Create, connect, and push boundaries in Boston’s vibrant art scene
Studying art at Emmanuel means stepping into a city known for its creative energy and cultural legacy. With the Museum of Fine Arts and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum just blocks from campus—and a thriving ecosystem of galleries, design studios, and artist communities surrounding you—you’ll learn and grow in a place where art matters.
Emmanuel’s art programs are intentionally interdisciplinary, giving you room to explore and specialize. You might find your path in studio art, where traditional practices like drawing, painting, ceramics and sculpture are taught with a contemporary lens. You may lean into graphic design, building digital portfolios and exploring branding, motion graphics and web design. Or you might pair creative work with a sense of purpose, through tracks in art education or the pre-professional art therapy program.
Want to broaden your perspective even further? Minors in art history, ceramics, or photography offer focused, skill-building experiences that can complement any major. And thanks to our membership in the Colleges of the Fenway, you can enroll in courses like glassblowing or bronze casting at MassArt, expanding your creative toolkit and your network.
At Emmanuel, you’ll work side by side with faculty who are practicing artists and designers. You’ll exhibit your work, build your portfolio, and develop a professional voice rooted in curiosity, critique, and care. Whether you’re preparing for graduate school or ready to launch a creative career, you’ll graduate with the experience and confidence to make your mark.
