Yes — it's built into the curriculum, not an exception. Every student completes gen-ed Areas of Knowledge requirements — Ethical Reasoning, Historical Inquiry, Language & Culture, Literary Inquiry, Quantitative Reasoning, Religious Inquiry, Natural and Social Sciences, Visual & Creative Inquiry — which by design span departments and schools. Many majors are inherently interdisciplinary, and adding a minor lets you combine further: a Communication & Media Studies major with a Data Analytics minor, for example, pulls from two different schools.

A school is the broader academic division organized around a shared discipline or professional field — Science & Health, for instance, or Business & Management. A department is the more specific unit within it, built around a single subject: Biology or Chemistry & Physics within the School of Science & Health, for example. Majors are typically housed at the department level, while the school sets the standards across its departments.
