Athletics & Intramural Sports

Emmanuel College fields 18 NCAA Division III varsity teams. Division III means no athletic scholarships are awarded — athletes are recruited and admitted through the standard undergraduate process, and financial aid is based on need and merit like any other student's.

They're three different levels of commitment, not three versions of the same thing. Varsity is the most competitive tier — tryouts, a full season, NCAA rules. Club sports are in the middle: organized and often competitive against other schools, but without varsity's recruiting process or scholarship structure. Intramural sports are the most casual tier, organized for fun and open participation rather than competition against other colleges.

Yes — Emmanuel's intramural sports run through Colleges of the Fenway (COF), the consortium of Boston-area colleges Emmanuel belongs to, rather than as an Emmanuel-only program. That means the intramural leagues and events an Emmanuel student joins include students from the other COF member schools, not just their own campus — a wider, more socially mixed pool than a single-campus intramural program would offer.
