Emmanuel College will celebrate its 102nd Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 18th, at 11:00 a.m. on its Fenway campus. The event will be preceded by Senior Week events and the traditional Baccalaureate Liturgy. 

President Ross is delighted to announce that Jack Connors, Jr., legendary philanthropist and eminent Bostonian, will serve as Emmanuel College’s 2024 Commencement Speaker. With his unparalleled insight into leadership and public service, Mr. Connors is a superb figure to inspire our community, especially the members of our graduating class, at the College’s 102nd Commencement Exercises, scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Commencement Information for Families and Friends

For Commencement Exercises on May 11th, Campus Safety will be at the Emmanuel College front gate directing cars to parking sites.

If a member of your family needs special assistance to attend these events, please contact the Emmanuel College Campus Safety Office at (617) 735-9710. Safety and security is Emmanuel College's highest priority. Campus Safety personnel and state police will be on-hand at Commencement. We ask that you and your guests not bring oversized bags of any kind to the ceremony and not to leave any belongings unattended while on campus. Large bags, packages and backpacks will be subject to search. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation with these security measures.

Each graduate will receive four (4) tickets for seating under the Commencement Tent. Each ticket admits one person, and tickets must be presented for entrance to the Commencement Tent. Seating cannot be guaranteed for arrival after 11:00 a.m. and seats may not be held. Weather-permitting, limited seating will also be available outside of the tent for non-ticket holders with views of the Commencement stage.

Tickets will be available through Marching Order. Graduates will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar with instructions on setting up their MarchingOrder account. Students should set up their accounts prior to April 27th. 

Beginning Monday, April 22nd at 9:00 a.m. students will have the ability to start claiming up to 4 guest tickets. To access tickets, students must:

  • Complete the College’s Exit Survey via their personalized link
  • Resolve any outstanding financial obligations to the College
  • (If applicable) Receipt of approved Petition to Walk for those with 8 credits of requirement completion after May 2024.

Tickets may be presented at Commencement electronically with the individualized QR code or may be printed and scanned prior to entry into the Commencement structure.

Commencement will be held in the tent on the Emmanuel campus, rain or shine. The ceremony will be livestreamed. For those without tickets to the Commencement Tent, there will be a simulcast of the ceremony with seating for 240 people in the Janet M. Daley Library Lecture Hall on campus. The ceremony will also be simulcast on the flatscreens in the Library lobby and in the Jean Yawkey Center.

Commencement Information for Graduates

Congratulations graduates! Before the big weekend, there are a few items you must address. Please see the checklist below. 

  1. Verify you have met your degree requirements. You should have received correspondence from the Office of the Registrar. All transfer credits must be received prior to Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
  2. Ensure your tuition bill is paid in full, including payment plan payments and library fines. To view your bill, please go to EC Online Services and select the Billing and Payment Center. To have access to Commencement tickets, your bill must be paid in full by Friday, April 19, 2024. 
  3. Students who have borrowed with a federal or state student loan are required to complete student loan exit counseling prior to graduation.  Student exit counseling instructions will be sent via email from the Office of Student Financial Services. To have access to Commencement tickets, you must complete this requirement by Friday, April 19, 2024. 
  4. If you are not attending Commencement, please inform the Office of the Registrar by emailing regmail [at] emmanuel.edu with the information noted above by Friday, April 19, 2024.
  5. Return all library books to the Library by Monday, May 13, 2024.
  6. Purchase caps, gowns and hoods from the Emmanuel College Bookstore beginning Monday, April 8, 2024. 
  7. Complete The Exit Survey. 

Academic dress for all graduates can be purchased through the Emmanuel College Bookstore. Purchase caps, gowns and hoods from the Emmanuel College Bookstore beginning Monday, April 8, 2024 through Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Graduate & Professional Programs students will be able to order regalia online for a $19 shipping fee. The deadline to have regalia ordered for delivery is Monday, April 8, 2024.

  • Undergraduate set (cap, gown, tassel) including hood: $64.00
  • Undergraduate hood: $30.00
  • Graduate set (cap, gown, tassel) including hood: $71.00
  • Graduate hood: $34.00
  • Cap Only: $7.00
  • Tassel Only: $5.00

MarchingOrder is a company that specializes in partnering with institutions in coordinating graduation events. Emmanuel has partnered with MarchingOrder to help us in providing a smooth process in celebrating with our graduates and their families! MarchingOrder allows us to:

  • Employ an efficient way to electronically track, distribute and collect graduate guest tickets
  • Track graduate attendance the day of Commencement
  • Collect recording of graduates’ names to ensure accuracy in pronunciation

Graduates have received an email from the Office of the Registrar regarding creating their MarchingOrder accounts. Each link is individualized to the specific student.

Ticket Reminders:

  • Graduates do NOT need a ticket
  • All graduates have four (4) tickets allotted for them for guests
  • Children 2 and under do not require a ticket and may sit on an adult’s lap. 
  • Tickets guarantee a seat under the Commencement tent.
  • Seating outside the tent will be available that does not require a ticket, including, weather depending, seating just outside the tent with view of the stage. Additionally, indoor seating will be available at various locations on campus.
  • If a ticket lottery becomes available for an additional ticket, this will be announced on Monday, May 6th. Review for potential additional tickets will not begin until May 1st.

Your diploma will display your earned degree. Major will not appear on your diploma. Undergraduates students who have earned Latin Honors will appear on the transcript.

For more information regarding Latin Honors eligibility, please refer to the 2023-2024 Academic Catalog.  Graduates will be notified of any Latin Honors earned on Friday, May 17, 2024 via email from the Office of the Registrar.

The College will send Commencement announcements to hometown newspapers on behalf of each graduate; it is up to the discretion of the individual newspaper to print the announcement. If there is a specific newspaper that students and families would like Emmanuel to contact, please e-mail pr [at] emmanuel.edu.

All Class of 2024 graduates will receive an email invitation from Dr. Josef Kurtz, Emmanuel's Provost, to participate in the College’s Graduating Student Exit Survey. Students whose degrees were conferred in December 2023 will already have received their survey invitation while students whose degrees are being conferred in May 2024 or September 2024 will receive their online survey invitation on Monday April 8th  2024. 

This 10 minute online survey will ask graduates to share information about their experiences in their major, their internship, their overall Emmanuel experience and their plans following graduation. The survey will remain open until Saturday, May 18th (the day of Commencement) and all students who complete the survey by Sunday the 28th of April will be entered into a prize draw to win a free 

Senior Week Package and extra Commencement tickets.

Students must complete the Exit Survey prior to claiming their Commencement tickets in Marching Order (students will be receiving a separate communication from the Registrar’s Office about this process).

We invite you to join us at the Baccalaureate Mass honoring the graduating class of 2024.

  • Friday, May 17, 2022, at 2 p.m.
  • Location: Commencement Tent
  • All students and their guests, regardless of religious affiliation, are invited.
  • Graduates will dress in their regalia – hoods and caps will not be worn during Mass. 
  • Graduates are welcome to sit with their families and friends during Mass. 
  • Graduates will be admitted into the gymnasium beginning at 9:15 a.m. and are expected to be in the Jean Yawkey Gymnasium no later than 9:45 a.m. wearing academic dress.
  • Once inside the gym,you must complete the Graduate Check-in located in the JYC Gymnasium to pick up your “Grad Pass” and line up. Your Grad Pass is the card you will hand to the reader to announce your name as you cross the stage. Students arriving very late will seated in the back and process across the stage at the very end of the graduates.
  • Your GradPass will note which line you will proceed to in the gymnasium. Graduates will process in line in by degree and in alphabetical order.  You will need to be in line in order to process to the Commencement Tent.
  • There will be mirrors, a bobby pin station and bathrooms available.
  • Please do not bring additional items into the gym such as purses, jackets, change of clothes, personal items, backpacks, etc. These items will not be permitted under the tent, nor can they be left in the gym during the ceremony.
  • The gym will be locked and will not be reopened once the ceremony has concluded. 
  • We recommend you make arrangements with your family/friends ahead of time as to where you’ll meet at the end of the ceremony.
