First Gen Ambassador Program

The First Gen Ambassador position is a leadership opportunity for first-gen students who want to mentor incoming classmates, help run programming, and help shape the legacy of the first gen community.

At a Glance

What Ambassadors actually do.

Use your experience to help other first-gen students find their footing at Emmanuel.

  • Welcome new students: Help lead the Annual Meet & Greet and be a familiar, friendly face for incoming first-gen students.
  • Mentor & connect: Offer the kind of guidance you wish you'd had: on classes, campus life or just figuring things out.
  • Help run programming: Co-host workshops and events throughout the year, including the celebration of National First Gen Day on Nov. 8.
  • Represent the community: Be a visible voice for first-gen students in conversations about what the program should do next or challenges students are experiencing.
  • Build real skills: Gain public speaking, event planning, and mentorship experience; the kind that looks good on a resume.
  • Stay closely supported: Work directly with First-Gen staff members throughout the year, not just during onboarding.

Who we're looking for.

You don't need to have it all figured out. 

We're looking for first-gen students with sophomore standing or above who are comfortable connecting with new people, genuinely want to help build community and can commit to participating throughout the academic year.
