For Gabriel “Gabe” Eduarte ‘26, Emmanuel College is more than just a place to earn a degree—it’s where he discovered his confidence, enhanced his faith, and forged lifelong connections.
As a Yawkey Scholarship recipient, Gabe, a double major in Economics and Finance, has embraced every opportunity to grow academically and personally, and he credits the College’s supportive environment for shaping him into the person he is today.
A standout both in the classroom and on the field, Gabe is a midfielder on Emmanuel’s men’s soccer team. In November, he was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division III Men's Soccer Academic All-District Team. Being part of the team has been one of the highlights of his college experience, teaching him the value of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership. "Soccer has been a huge part of my journey at Emmanuel," he shared. "It’s not just about the game—it’s about building relationships and representing something bigger than myself."
Gabe also carves out time to work in Student Financial Services (SFS) and serve as a resident assistant. Both roles have deepened his connection to the Emmanuel community and allowed him to grow as a leader. "These experiences have helped me build relationships across campus and develop skills I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life," he said.
The Transformative Power of the Yawkey Scholarship
The Yawkey Scholarship, which provides high-achieving students with financial assistance in recognition of their outstanding participation in the Jean R. Yawkey Center for Community Leadership, has played a pivotal role in Gabe’s success.
"The scholarship has been life changing. It’s given me the freedom to fully experience everything Emmanuel has to offer, from expanding my connection to God to competing on the field to thriving in the classroom,” he said. "To be recognized as a recipient of such a prestigious scholarship really boosted my confidence and allowed me to seek more opportunities—whether it was becoming a resident assistant, pursuing job opportunities, or internships."
