In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the start of the Centennial Service Challenge, more than 100 students, alumni, faculty and staff volunteered at locations throughout Boston on January 19th, including the Boston Women's March, Boston Building Resources, St. Francis House, St. Ambrose Family Shelter, OLPH Mission Grammar School and more.

"Emmanuel has a long history of serving the community," said Assistant Dean of Mission and Ministry Deirdre Bradley-Turner. "The Centennial Service Challenge provides a special way for all of us-current students, faculty, staff and alumni alike-to celebrate and continue our tradition of service."

The Centennial Service Challenge is an initiative encouraging the greater Emmanuel community to give back throughout 2019 in honor of the College's Centennial year. To kick off this initiative, alumni were invited to join the annual MLK Jr. Day of Service & Reflection and volunteer at sites throughout Boston.

Members of the greater Emmanuel College community are also encouraged to volunteer to serve in their own communities throughout the year and to do so in the name of Emmanuel's Centennial Service Challenge. Volunteers are asked to indicate the number of hours they pledge to complete throughout the year in on the College's Centennial Website.
