Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Requirements and Information

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts requires all students (9 or more credits) to have health insurance coverage. Students may be covered by individual or family coverage or may participate in Emmanuel's health insurance plan offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Massachusetts.

Please note: The health insurance enrollment or waiver must be completed annually. These forms are separate from the Emmanuel College Immunization & Health Form which must be submitted to Health Services.

To ensure compliance with the state law, all undergraduate students are billed for the school’s plan until the waiver is received. The cost of the plan for the 2024-2025 academic year is $3,900. A waiver must be received prior to the start of the academic year. Medicaid from outside of Massachusetts, Medi-Share and international plans are not considered comparable insurance.

Information regarding the College’s plan with BCBS, along with enrollment and waiver forms, is available via the University Health Plans website at www.universityhealthplans.com.
