An overview of Emmanuel’s key financial aid policies can be found below. Please note that students are responsible for reading and understanding all materials sent to them, including information published in the Academic Catalog.
Financial aid funds are disbursed to the student account once enrollment has been verified for the relevant academic period, all necessary requirements have been met (i.e. loan entrance counseling and/or promissory notes, etc.), and funds have been received by the College.
Withdrawal, reduction in credit load, or cancellation of classes may result in adjustment to or cancellation of certain types of financial aid which have eligibility tied to enrollment level. In some cases, a student’s enrollment level for the award period cannot be verified until after the add/drop period for the second session of the semester.
If Title IV aid has disbursed to the student’s account that results in an account credit and we do not have a Credit Balance Refund Request Form or a Credit Balance Authorization Form, we will mail a check to address we have listed on file.
Emmanuel College Scholarships
If you are affiliated with Emmanuel College or one of our partner organizations, you may qualify for a partial tuition scholarship. A list of these scholarships can be found on the Financial Aid and Scholarships page of our website. Students are automatically awarded scholarships based on the information provided on the admission application. To receive and maintain a tuition scholarship, the College may confirm eligibility with the affiliated organization.
Federal and State Financial Aid
In addition to submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and an Emmanuel College Application for Financial Aid each year, to be considered for most federal and state financial aid a Graduate and Professional Programs student must:
- be accepted into and enrolled in a degree or certificate-granting program at Emmanuel College
- be enrolled at least half time (six credits for undergraduates, three credits for graduate students) for most forms of federal and state financial aid (i.e., loans, etc.)
- maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (see below)
- be free from default on a previous student loan
- be a United States citizen, national, or permanent resident, or one of the other types of eligible noncitizens listed at www.studentaid.gov.
All eligibility requirements must be met to have financial aid renewed. If at any time a student ceases to be eligible, their financial aid will be canceled and they will be responsible for the balance on their student account.
To continue receiving financial aid, students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP); that is, measurable progress toward the completion of a course of study according to the standards of Emmanuel College and the federal government. SAP is reviewed annually, and the requirements stipulate that students maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 after completion of four semesters of attendance. Students must also successfully complete 67% of the attempted credits during each academic year and must complete their degree program within 150% of the normal length of the program. Please refer to the Academic Catalog for more information regarding Satisfactory Academic Progress.
