Students who seek to complete a course off campus must complete the Study Off Campus Request Form. The student is responsible for obtaining and completing the Study Off Campus Request Form, including the appropriate approvals, before registering for a course at another institution. This form should be submitted to the Office of the Registrar, Eisner Administration Building (EAB) Room 340 or regmail [at] emmanuel.edu (regmail[at]emmanuel[dot]edu), before the Off-Campus course begins.
Students should submit approvals for off-campus work at least one week prior to the off-campus course starting to ensure approvals are received in time, although two weeks is preferable. Approvals generally take 3-5 business days; however, requests for major coursework and certain direct equivalents may require additional time for review by the respective academic department.
Study Off Campus Forms submitted in April and May can take longer to review due to volume and other departmental responsibilities. The Office of the Registrar will review all off-campus work for transfer eligibility and assign equivalencies and credit designations. If a departmental review is necessary, the Office of the Registrar will facilitate the evaluation with the appropriate academic department.
GPP Student Study Off Campus Specific Policy
Bachelor of Science students may complete coursework off campus after matriculation without limitation, so long as the coursework meets the eligibility for transfer work and the student meets the College residency requirement associated with the student’s respective program of study. Undergraduate students must earn a C (2.0) or better to transfer credit to Emmanuel. Only the credit for transfer courses, not the letter grade earned, will be posted to the Emmanuel transcript.
Graduate students may transfer up to two courses toward their degree, so long as the coursework was not used toward another degree program. Graduate courses must earn a B (3.0) or better to transfer. Only the credit for transfer courses, not the letter grade earned, will be posted to the Emmanuel transcript.
A+S Student Study Off Campus Specific Policy
A+S students should refer to the Transfer Credit Policy for All Students regarding course eligibility for transfer. Arts and Sciences students post matriculation, must earn a C or its equivalent (2.0) or better to transfer credit to Emmanuel so long as all other criteria for transfer have been met.
Once matriculated, an Arts and Sciences student may obtain transfer credit for no more than one course for every full year completed at Emmanuel College as a full-time student, with a maximum of four courses eligible for transfer. Only the credit for transfer courses, not the letter grade earned, will be posted to the Emmanuel transcript. This policy does not apply to courses taken within the Colleges of the Fenway consortium. Grades completed for courses registered via the official cross-registration process or for students officially enrolled in the Emmanuel in Leeds fall semester program will be posted to the Emmanuel transcript, considered in-residence, and factor into the student’s grade point average.
