Study the History, Politics and Cultures of the Middle East and North Africa

At Emmanuel College, the Middle East and North Africa studies minor explores one of the world's most historically significant and geopolitically influential regions. Through an interdisciplinary curriculum spanning history, political science, religion, language and literature, you'll develop a deeper understanding of the diverse cultures, societies and political systems that shape the Middle East and North Africa.

You'll examine contemporary issues such as regional conflict, diplomacy, political reform, human rights, migration and U.S. foreign policy alongside the historical and cultural contexts that influence them. By studying topics ranging from Islam and Arabic literature to peace negotiations and international relations, you'll gain the analytical and cross-cultural perspective needed for careers in government, diplomacy, journalism, education, nonprofit organizations and global affairs.
