Supporting Harvard’s Biggest Breakthroughs.
Kylia visited the Emmanuel’s Career Center for the first time during her freshman year. “I was applying to be a Resident Assistant and an Admissions Ambassador, and I really wanted both. I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could to be the best candidate.” She did get both positions—and made key connections that would bolster her Emmanuel experience.
On campus, Kylia served as a Resident Assistant, through which she enjoyed creating community. She also earned the status of Gold Key Admissions Ambassador, which helped with her confidence. “I loved giving tours,” she says. “People don’t realize what a hidden gem Emmanuel is!
“It was really rewarding. Students always came up to me and said, ‘you were my tour guide!’ I like to think I was part of their decision to come here.”
By junior year, Kylia was still fully committed to her chemistry major, but knew working in a laboratory all day wasn’t the best fit for her. An influential professor asked if she’d ever considered research administration. Days later, a position for a research administration intern at Harvard came through the Career Center, and her Career Advisor put her name forward.
