For the first time, The Saintly Review, a literary magazine organized and curated by Emmanuel students, is accepting submissions from students from all four other Colleges of the Fenway schools. The submission deadline for the spring issue is April 21st.
While The Saintly Review has been accepting and publishing the work of Emmanuel College students since 2016, students from Wentworth Institute of Technology, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, MCPHS University and Simmons University are now welcome to share their creativity for a chance to be published in the publication.
“Due to the universally difficult times that we are currently living through, we wanted to open up a space for all COF students to express themselves artistically,” said Kailey Hinckley ’21, a member of the publication’s editorial board. “We felt that opening up this shared space could provide us with some collective healing through the power of prose, poetry, art, and more.”
Orchestrated each semester by students enrolled in the Emmanuel course, “Editing and Publishing a Literary Magazine,” The Saintly Review showcases a host of different art forms. The class is an extension of the well-established writing program at Emmanuel, working to teach students about the capstone of the writing process: publication. The class forms an editorial board with responsibilities that encourage teamwork and allows for practical experience in all aspects of the publishing process.
