Led by Associate Professor of Political Science Adam Silver, 12 students from Emmanuel College’s Youth in Government delegation traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 7th Session of the Campus YMCA Congress (CYC), February 7th–10th, where they were honored as the 2019 Chapter of the Year and recognized as a Chapter of Distinction.

The CYC is a student-run professional development conference focused on developing innovative policy solutions to pressing contemporary issues. Participation in the conference aims to empower students through civic engagement, train public servant leaders and emphasize policy over politics.

"As a biology major, I never knew how to synthesize my passions for science and legislation," said Class President Abigail McGovern '19. "Participation in CYC has allowed me to explore what it means to be to be civically engaged and to grow to be a pragmatic and thoughtful leader."
