During my career in higher education, I have taught undergraduate and graduate students in both flagship public institutions and small private colleges. The common thread has been my background as a cultural anthropologist, seeking to make visible the forces that structure how people live in community. As an active fieldworker, I applied an ethnographic approach to studying the dynamics of contemporary spirituality in Latin America. Now, as an academic administrator, I take a social scientist’s eye to improving the practices of higher education.

What I love about Emmanuel:
Emmanuel embodies the hallmarks of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur to “educate for and act on behalf of justice, peace, and care for all creation.” Learning here involves the whole person and how we connect to each other for the benefit of the common good.
