Constructed in 1965 to house thousands of volumes and provide a quiet space for research and study, Emmanuel's Cardinal Cushing Library has transformed into a 21st century destination for communication, creation and collaboration among students.

The Cardinal Cushing Library and the Learning Commons supports the mission of Emmanuel College by providing resources, services, and technology to meet the present and future educational, research, and information needs of its community. The sunlit library offers extensive study and collaboration space, with group study rooms, individual study carrels and computer stations, along with tools and materials to facilitate learning and exploration.

A full-time staff of knowledgeable librarians helps guides students through an extensive library collection that includes more than 250,000 print and e-Books in our collections covering all subject areas, 3,600+ print and electronic journal subscriptions, more than 60 online subscription databases in all subject areas and more than 25,000 online streaming videos available 24/7 in every subject.

The Cardinal Cushing Library opened in 1965, and was named for His Eminence Cardinal Richard Cushing, Archbishop of Boston from 1944 to 1970.
