Women in Science Initiative

The Women in Science initiative at Emmanuel College (WISE) is dedicated to advancing and promoting women as scientists and science leaders in their chosen fields. The main goal of this initiative is to increase the retention, advancement, and success of women in STEM fields, particularly in leadership positions.

WISE seeks to achieve its goal by creating opportunities for, providing support to, and promoting belonging among women in science, at all stages of their careers at Emmanuel and beyond. Through these initiatives, we hope to create an inclusive, self-sustaining community of Emmanuel women in science.

WISE is Emmanuel's initiative to advance women as scientists and science leaders, focused on increasing the retention, advancement, and success of women in STEM — particularly in leadership roles — through internships, mentoring, and professional development.

100% of Emmanuel College students complete an internship as a requirement for graduation, and WISE scholars can find a wide array of internship and research opportunities within walking distance of the Emmanuel campus at some of the country's top institutions within the Longwood Medical and Academic Area: including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston Children's Hospital, and Harvard Medical School.

WISE scholars can also work directly with faculty on the Emmanuel campus as student researchers under the Clare Booth Luce (CBL) Research Program for women in STEM.
