Emmanuel’s commitment to educational advancement in the sciences is exemplified through the Center for Science Education, a significant resource in science for K-12 teachers and students.
The Center for Science Education at Emmanuel College was established in response to studies showing a lack of sufficient inquiry-based science education in K-12 programs across the nation and several teachers instructing without proper certification.
Through access to facilities and resources in Emmanuel's Maureen Murphy Wilkens Science Center, the Center for Science Education serves as a major resource for K-12 teachers in Massachusetts, promoting scientific literacy and providing quality professional development. The Center also hosts events to inspire students, especially those in Boston's urban schools, to pursue careers in science and other STEM fields.
