Mission and Ministry provides opportunities for reflection, community building, and spiritual development through on and off-campus retreats, spiritual direction, and special programming.
Mission and Ministry offers retreat opportunities for campus groups throughout the year including retreats for Emmanuel College athletic teams, student organizations, faculty and staff groups. Dates for 2026-2027 Retreats will be announced during the summer.
Each fall semester, first-year and transfer students are invited to spend a weekend on Cape Cod participating in Take48, a 48- hour retreat away from campus in which we reflect on three questions relating to the transition to college, being a new member of the Emmanuel College community, and building new friendships. Next Retreat Dates: Fall 2026.
An outdoor retreat encouraging students to get off campus and into nature, the Wilderness Walk retreat is held in the fall semester. All are invited to spend a day hiking paired with an evening of reflection. Next Retreat Dates: October 2026
Co-sponsored by the Counseling Office and the Office of Mission & Ministry, we are offering a new half-day retreat dubbed Meaning Making, where we explore the intersection of spirituality and wellbeing. All are welcome. Fall 2026 Dates TBA.
Mission and Ministry supports Emmanuel’s LGBTQIA+ community by co-sponsoring ReachingOUT, an off-campus weekend retreat helping students develop community rooted in love for self, as well as awareness of God’s deep love for each of us. Next Retreat Dates: February 2027
Senior Retreat, January 2027. Before you say goodbye and before the semester gets too busy, all seniors are welcome to join us for a moment to pause, reflect, and connect to this moment of both the end and a new chapter emerging.
Faculty & Staff Retreat is a yearly retreat held in January prior to the beginning of the Spring semester. It is an opportunity for our Faculty and Staff to pause and reflect on the mission and values of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and how this intersects with our mission as a Notre Dame Learning Community.
Spiritual Direction is another offering from Mission and Ministry. This is an opportunity for students to explore their spirituality and develop a closer relationship with God. Spiritual direction is a time-honored term for a conversation between two persons, in which one person consults another, more spiritually experienced person called a spiritual director, about the ways in which God may be touching her or his life. Spiritual direction is open to all students, faculty, and staff of any faith tradition.
