- Brenda Hawks
Dr. Hawks, the director of the Center, received her undergraduate degree from University of Virginia and her doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University. A licensed psychologist, she has worked as a faculty member and as a clinician at several colleges and has published and presented on college mental health, diversity, and career development. Her therapeutic style is active and focuses on developing a collaborative, culturally-sensitive relationship where students can gain insight, make changes, and move closer to pursuing their most meaningful life. Dr. Hawks’ clinical interests include working with grief, depression, the mind-body connection, and the career and developmental concerns of marginalized groups. In her free time, Dr. Hawks enjoys telling stories, gardening, and dancing.
