Sacramental Preparation

What is R.C.I.A.?

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the formation process by which people are prepared and welcomed into the Catholic Church. At Emmanuel, R.C.I.A is open to students, staff and members of the COF community looking to join the Catholic Church, receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, or learn more about their Catholic faith. The group meets weekly throughout the academic year to reflect on their relationship with God and learn about the Catholic faith. R.C.I.A. culminates in the celebration of the sacraments during the Easter Season.

Who is it for?

  • People who are unbaptized who want to become part of the Catholic Church.
  • People from other faith traditions who want to become part of the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Confirmation, Eucharist and/or Baptism
  • Catholics who want to complete their initiation process through the Sacrament of Confirmation
  • Anyone who wants to learn more about the Catholic faith.

The R.C.I.A. process at Emmanuel meets each individual participant where he or she is spiritually. Whatever your path, we welcome you!
