College Update and Q & A for Parents and Families

Even amid the pandemic, Emmanuel students continue to participate in internships, benefit from the guidance of faculty mentors, and sharpen the skills to excel in a complex and changing world. Join President Sister Janet Eisner, SNDdeN, and Vice President of Academic Affairs Josef Kurtz for a look at how Emmanuel’s distinctive educational mission continues to thrive, followed by a facilitated question-and-answer session. We know that excitement is building for the reopening of our residential Boston campus in January; we encourage parents and family members to submit questions in advance on the Family Weekend registration form about the spring semester or any other topic.

Friday, November 20th

Time Event
All Day Family Weekend 2020 Kudoboard
Whether you are proud of your student for tackling all the challenges of a remote semester and want to give them a shoutout or just proud of Aunt Beth’s Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole recipe and want to share it with your Saints family, we invite you to post a message to our Kudoboard this weekend! Any Thanksgiving recipes posted between Friday and Sunday will be entered into a prize drawing.
7:00 p.m. Saints Family Trivia
What are the holidays without a little family-friendly competition? This trivia game will test your knowledge on a variety of topics, from sports to pop culture and more! Every Emmanuel student has access to the Career Center’s many services from their first day as Saints. Join our staff of dedicated career development professionals for an interactive Q&A session to learn more about career education in the classroom, employer relations in Boston and beyond, the day-to-day advising resources available to students, and the Center’s newest initiatives designed to support students remotely during COVID-19. Bring your questions about working with a Career Advisor, preparing for and landing an internship, post-graduation support and more.
11:00 a.m. Realign, Refresh, and Restore
Drawing from Yoga and other mind-body techniques, this session focuses on releasing tension and realigning our bodies for maximum efficiency. We will then work to build strength and flexibility through a series of Pilates exercises. You will leave feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of your day. Invite your family (and pets) to participate in this fun-filled workout! Instructor: Kristen Duffy Young, Co-Director of the Colleges of the Fenway Center for Performing Arts and a faculty member of the Emmanuel College Theater Arts Program. She is also the President of the Massachusetts Dance Education Organization.
12:00 p.m. Virtual Tour of the Museum of Fine Arts
From the Bronze Age to the 2000s and from Ancient Nubia to the Americas, experience the Museum of Fine Arts’ vast collections up close and from the comfort of your home. Take this guided virtual tour of one of the world’s premier art museums, which we are proud to call our Fenway neighbor.
