The human resources field offers outstanding career opportunities. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of human resources managers is projected to grow 9% in the ten years leading up to 2024—a faster rate than the average for all occupations.

In today's dynamic and rapidly evolving business environments, companies of all sizes and types are increasingly looking to human resource professionals, from HR generalists to HR managers, to act as business partners who help drive the strategic success of their organizations. Emmanuel's Master of Science in Human Resource Management (HRM) is a graduate program built on a foundation of management learning and taught by distinguished faculty with decades of practical business experience. Emmanuel College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).

Emmanuel's Master of Science in Human Resource Management (HRM) is an intensive, integrated learning experience that provides the HR training that prepares students to address the strategic issues faced by human resource professionals in today's complex organizations.

As companies change and adapt to new market forces, they need human resource leaders who understand areas such as labor relations and employment law; total rewards; and talent acquisition and management. Emmanuel's human resources program covers these topics in detail. Additionally, you will learn the critical role of human resources in creating strategic business results. You will be exposed to a solid foundation of management learning to complement your focus on human resources. Earning a human resources degree from Emmanuel shows major employers that you have HR training and expertise to achieve their business goals.

Our Human Resource Management courses challenge students to develop skills to think critically, act ethically and communicate effectively. Through the program, students learn how to hone strategic human resource management skills like developing effective recruitment practices, managinge total rewards and navigatinge employee and labor relations.

Emmanuel's HRM program is designed for early- and mid-level professionals with an interest in or experience with the field of human resources. Current job titles of recent graduates include Director of Human Resources; Senior HR Business Partner; Talent and Culture Manager; and Principal Human Resources Generalist. Alumni work at leading organizations such as Liberty Mutual, Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc., National Grid, Harvard University, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Agios Pharmaceuticals, to name a few.

About the HRM Program Chair

Professor Stephen G. Sheehan is the program chair of Emmanuel's Human Resource Management program. He previously served as Vice President of Human Resources for Thermo Fisher Scientific where he was responsible for developing and implementing global human resource strategies for the company and was a member of Thermo Fisher's senior leadership team. Professor Sheehan came to Thermo Fisher from Merck & Company, where he served as vice president, human resources, for Merck Research Labs, Information Services, and Worldwide Licensing - the $2.4 billion research engine of the global pharmaceutical company. In this role, he oversaw a global workforce of 8,500. Earlier in his career he also served as vice president of human resources for TCSI, a Silicon Valley-based provider of software products and services for the global telecommunications industry and at General Electric, where he worked in human resources positions of increasing responsibility, most recently as the head of human resources for GE's nuclear energy business. Mr. Sheehan holds an MBA from Northeastern University and a BA in political science from Dickinson College.
