EmmanuelForward Update: November 12, 2020

The College continues to ready its campus to welcome back students for living and learning in January. In anticipation of the Spring 2021 semester, numerous health and safety measures have been put in place. Please view this Emmanuel Forward video to learn more about our preparations!

This week, all students received further details and reminders on the process of Spring 2021 course registration. Registration will run from November 16th to November 29th, during which time students can work with advisors to craft a schedule that best balances their needs and academic requirements.

As communicated previously, the College is offering both face-to-face (F2F) and virtual courses during the Spring 2021 semester. There are a number of factors that have influenced this mix of formats, including the need to offer a variety of courses to both students living on campus and those who may require a 100% remote experience. Faculty needs and the de-densification of classrooms were also considered in the planning process as to whether a course would be in a face-to-face or virtual format.

The Office of Residence Life & Housing has begun a new housing selection and placement process based on those students who will live on campus for the Spring 2021 semester. At this time, the College has been able to accommodate the majority of students who desire a residential experience. A small waitlist exists, which we anticipate there will be some movement on based on changing residential preferences.

The housing selection process for all returning students will conclude on November 20th while first-year students will be placed by the Office of Residence Life & Housing based on initial housing preferences. By early December, those in campus housing will have a final room assignment as well as a designated move-in date. While the move-in schedule is not finalized, it will be a phased approach during the week prior to classes commencing on January 27th. Before move-in, a detailed residence life guide will be shared with students and families.

The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced on November 2nd that conference athletic competition for winter sports would be cancelled. This was based on a unanimous decision by all conference colleges and universities. As communicated by Emmanuel’s athletics department, the College is exploring the best ways to offer meaningful athletic-related activities while maintaining a safe environment for athletes to practice and train.

Upcoming Emmanuel Forward updates will include additional information on COVID-19 testing, quarantine and isolation protocols, health and wellness offerings and guidelines, commuter student information, details on campus dining, and upcoming financial aid and billing deadlines.
