A Message from Student Affairs: Virtual Engagement

Dear EC Saints!

As you begin your first days of classes, the Student Affairs team is excited to share information on virtual co-curricular programming. We are committed to providing engagement opportunities—educational, social, professional and spiritual—to complement your remote learning and ensure that you remain involved and feel supported. This fall, we will center our work around the Three Cs: Connection, Care and Community.

In the coming weeks, you will have the opportunity to take part in virtual synchronous (live) and asynchronous (on demand) programs offered through Student Activities & Multicultural Programs, Residence Life & Housing, New Student Engagement & Transition, and Mission & Ministry, among others. Below is a sampling of the all-virtual programs you will hear about early in the semester. We will also be rolling out the Three Cs Challenge, an event celebrating student engagement.

  • Involvement Fair: Showcase of opportunities to participate in student clubs and organizations
  • Center for Diversity and Inclusion Events: Welcome-back programs and Through the Wire speaker series
  • COF Esports Intramurals: Casual and competitive play for Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, NBA 2K, Mario Kart and more
  • Take 48 Retreat: Retreat experience for first-year and transfer students
  • COF Block Party: Colleges of the Fenway community event for student organizations, including performing arts
  • The Digital Get Down: Dance party with student-curated playlists and prizes
  • Freestyle Open Mic Night: A chance for students to share talents, with all forms of expression welcome
  • Mission & Ministry Open House: An event highlighting service and spiritual-growth opportunities

Clubs and organizations will continue to work within the Student Government Association (SGA) to offer meetings and programs for club members and other students who have an interest in a particular club’s offerings. All programs will be posted to the Emmanuel College Events Calendar and promoted on the College’s various social media channels. We encourage all students to continually monitor these channels to stay up to date on all Emmanuel happenings.

We know so many of you value our longstanding Emmanuel traditions, while others are new to our community. As much as possible, we will strive to develop online offerings of the types of programs our students traditionally attend and enjoy.

We will both be hosting weekly open office hours to provide you with a direct line of communication. We wish you the best of luck this semester and we look forward to your involvement!

Sincerely,

Dr. Joe Onofrietti
Vice President of Student Affairs

Dr. Jennifer Forry
Dean of Students
