2013 Accreditation: A Positive Reaffirmation
This past fall, following a comprehensive, once-per-decade evaluation, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Commission on Institutions of Higher Education continued Emmanuel College in accreditation. The College's next comprehensive evaluation is scheduled for the fall of 2022.
The positive assessment followed a spring 2013 review of the College's programs, practices and resources by a NEASC Visiting Team representing a range of peer institutions. For two years preceding the team's visit, Emmanuel conducted a broad internal appraisal, culminating in an in-depth Self Study report.
The Commission commended Emmanuel for its "informative and forthright self-study that documents the 'transformation' the institution has undergone since the time of its last comprehensive evaluation" in 2003. In particular, the Commission noted the advances the College has made in key areas including enrollment; faculty appointments; new academic programs; physical plant; strategic planning; and engaging the campus community in the mission and ideals of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and in the Catholic intellectual tradition.
"This review affirms the College's many strengths following a decade of remarkable change," said Sister Janet Eisner, SND, President of Emmanuel College. "I am most grateful to the many members of the Emmanuel community who, with outstanding commitment and professionalism, helped the College to achieve this significant milestone."
