Emmanuel College Radio Wins Three National Awards

EC Radio was honored with three national awards at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System's (IBS) 73rd Annual Conference on March 1st-3rd in New York City.

Assistant Professor of Performing Arts & Director of Theatre Scott Gagnon (director) and Joe Horgan '13 (producer) won Best Radio Drama for their production of Mystery Radio Theater's "Halloween Special (Episode 3)."

For Best Live Music Broadcast, first-year student and EC Radio's new vice president Colby Rich '16 won for his weekly program, "Saturdays@7." 

EC Radio took home the award for Best Station Blog. 

Joe Horgan's "Growing Pains" was also nominated for Best Documentary and EC Radio was nominated for Best Use of Social Media.

IBS is a nonprofit organization that supports both terrestrial and Internet college stations and has approximately 1000 members nationwide.

Founded in 2005, EC Radio currently boasts 75 DJs broadcasting more than 63 hours of radio programming each week, providing the community of students, faculty and administrators of Emmanuel with a means to share their voices and ideas with the rest of the College community, as well as with listeners from the West Coast and from as far as South America, the Middle East and Australia. The station broadcasts a diverse range of music, opinion, lecture and news programming that covers life at Emmanuel College and the Greater Boston area. The station, under direction of Assistant Professor of English Lisa Falvey, recently garnered the second-place title for "Best College Radio Station" by WGBH's Boston A-List.
