Applying for Financial Aid

At Emmanuel, we are proud to offer robust support through our Office of Student Financial Services. There is no “one-size fits all” solution for each and every student, but our dedicated team of counselors are here to help you navigate this process with confidence and ensure you understand your eligibility for financial aid.

Financial aid is available from not just one, but several sources. Financial aid sources may include merit scholarships, institutional grants, need-based financial aid, and self-help opportunities such as federal loans and work-study, outside scholarships, and more.

These opportunities will help bridge the gap between your and your family’s resources and the cost of attending to make the goal of an Emmanuel College education a reality. Please refer to our comprehensive 2024-2025 Guide to Financing and Financial Aid as you begin to explore the variety of options that may be available to you.

Eligibility for need-based financial aid is determined by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2024-2025 FAFSA is now open and all students seeking need-based financial assistance are encouraged to complete the FAFSA online. Emmanuel College has extended its priority filing date for the FAFSA until April 1st but we still encourage students to submit their FAFSA as soon as possible.

We understand that you and your family may be eager to decide which college you will be attending. For this reason, we are happy to provide you with an estimate of your financial aid eligibility now. Once you submit your 2024-2025 FAFSA, there are two ways you can receive an estimate of your eligibility from Emmanuel:

  1. If your FAFSA was complete when you submitted it, you will be sent a confirmation email (with the subject line “We’ve Received Your FAFSA”). That email will be sent to the student (please check your spam folder) and includes your Student Aid Index (SAI) and an estimate of your Pell Grant eligibility, which you will need to complete our quick, three question Estimated Financial Aid Application.
  2. If your FAFSA was not complete at the time of submission (for example, you submitted your FAFSA without all of the required signatures), your SAI will not be calculated by the FAFSA Processing System until late March. If you have submitted your FAFSA but have not received your SAI, you should use the Federal Student Aid Estimator to get an estimate of your Pell Grant eligibility and your estimated SAI. You can then use that information to complete our quick, three question Estimated Financial Aid Application.

Please note, it is our understanding all FAFSA statuses now show as “In Review”, regardless of whether a SAI was calculated or not.

Important Things to Note

  • If this is your first FAFSA, you should create your FSA ID now. Watch this helpful video on how to create an account.
  • Invite your contributor(s) to complete their portion of the FAFSA by collecting their name, date of birth, Social Security Number (if applicable) and email address. All contributors will also need an FSA ID. If you need help to determine your contributors, watch this short video.
  • To help make sure the process go smoothly, we encourage you to watch this video for additional guidance on the documents you may need while completing your FAFSA.
  • Emmanuel’s FAFSA code is 002147.
  • If you or your family have had significant financial changes since 2022, complete the FAFSA as instructed (by providing 2022 income information) and contact our office to discuss the changes in more detail.

Emmanuel does not require the CSS/Financial Aid Profile. Should additional information be required to determine a student's financial aid eligibility, the student will be notified by the Office of Student Financial Services.

Students who earn Emmanuel College merit scholarships and non-need-based awards are notified by the Office of Admissions in their acceptance packets. These awards include the Presidential Scholarship, Dean's Scholarship, Academic Achievement Scholarship and City of Boston Scholarship. The scholarship letter included with the acceptance packet provides scholarship details including amounts and renewal requirements.

In addition to merit-based scholarships, Emmanuel College offers the Saints Community Award to recognize the many ways we believe students will be a valuable addition to the Emmanuel community. Financial need is not considered when determining eligibility for this award and students are notified with the acceptance packet.

All students who complete the admission application by the published application deadline are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships. No separate application is required for most scholarships.

Catholic High School Graduate Award

This $5,000 annual scholarship is given to graduates of Catholic high schools who enroll at Emmanuel College. The award recognizes a student's commitment to academics and service made throughout high school. No additional scholarship application is required but students must apply by February 15th. Students are notified of their award upon admission to the College.

Scholarships are mutually exclusive; however, students receiving scholarships or awards may also be considered for need-based financial aid including federal, state and Emmanuel College grants and loans.
