“Emmanuel has prepared me for where I am today. All of the positions I have held in the last four years, whether on campus or off campus, have come from some kind of connection with a professor, someone in the Career Center or some other member of the Emmanuel community. Without these people and these influences, I don't think I would be where I am today.”
—KeYana Reid '17
Emmanuel enabled KeYana to receive hands-on training and make the critical professional connections she needed to move closer to her goal of becoming a fourth-grade teacher. During her sophomore year, she gained in-class experience by working alongside a full-time teacher. The work continued this past summer when she taught Boston sixth graders through an internship with Generation Teach. Upon graduation, KeYana is launching her career as a teaching fellow with the KIPP Massachusetts network of public charter schools. KeYana believes that her education classes and her teacher training–along with her on-campus roles as an admission ambassador, singer in an a capella group and board member for Emmanuel’s annual fundraising dance marathon–have put her on a clear path to success.
