The Catholic Church is among the oldest and most prominent institutions in the world.
In accordance with the mission of Emmanuel College and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, this interdisciplinary minor seeks to develop student understanding of the rich academic traditions, cultural heritage and commitment to social justice that are the hallmarks of the Catholic Church. Through the study of theology, art, literature, ethics and other disciplines, students will learn the ways in which the Church's trajectory has been shaped by the thinking and actions of ordinary and extraordinary Catholics.

Petros Vamvakas is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Chair of the Latin American Studies, Middle East Studies and Peace Studies Programs. His work focuses on security and democratization, as well as issues related to identity and race in politics throughout the Americas. As part of his teaching, he has escorted groups of students to Crete, Greece, and will be bringing a group of students to Cuba.
On the cusp of her senior year at Emmanuel, studio art major Hannah Lynch '19 was awarded the Emmanuel College Travel Fellowship for Advanced Study, enabling her to travel to at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina for a two-week workshop focused on textiles.
