About

Embrace the social science of economics and delve into how people and societies effectively manage scarce resources. In Emmanuel's Department of Economics, students will study how consumers make choices, how privately-owned businesses produce and sell goods, how unemployment, inflation, poverty, income inequality and globalization affect the well-being of societies and how urban areas manage one of the scarcest resources of all—space.

Students majoring in economics will also explore international economic systems—politics, growth and development, the power of multinational corporations, international trade and trade agreements and more. Economics majors also leverage Emmanuel’s location in Boston to gain unmatched real-world experience at a number of leading financial, insurance and investment firms orwithin the healthcare industry.
