The Tabs! Low Treatment System

Bringing Ownership to Chronic Illness

The Tabs! Low Treatment System is a combination of a reimagined traditional low blood sugar treatment (glucose tablets) and a phone app specifically designed for Type 1 Diabetics. Tabs! utilizes a unique aesthetic and approach to design that allows its looks to stand out in the current low blood sugar treatment market. This fresh and engaging feel serves the purpose of bringing better identity and pride to users of Tabs! through creating a product that does not appear to have a medical application at first glance. This sense of identity is carried through to the app’s design, which balances the same design principals as the glucose tab bottles, while also serving the immediate medical needs of the user with Type 1. The app serves those needs by gently reminding the user to treat their low, keeping track of the 15 minutes the user must wait, and reminding the user to recheck their blood sugar level after the 15 minutes has elapsed. At the same time, the app provides completely customizable and fully individualized entertainment while they wait for their blood sugar to rise. This entertainment is based on the interests and preferences of each app user. A combination of strong aesthetics, entertainment, and well-disguised medical care elevate the Tabs! Low Treatment System from just another glucose tablet company to a product that can encourage proper low treatment for Type 1 Diabetics and eliminate the negative connotation they have with being low.
