Bio

Sam Maron teaches about cities and globalization, social movements, and the urban political economy of mega-events like the Olympic Games. He is interested in questions of global urbanism and social justice, especially the ways that residents of global cities advocate for a more livable and democratic future. In his classes, students use case studies, field trips in Boston, and creative projects to develop their sociological imaginations. By developing a sociological lens, students gain the tools to not only understand the social world, but also to address today’s biggest problems.
