My nursing journey started in my homeland Nigeria, where I earned my Diploma in nursing from the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu. I continued with my enthusiastic interest in nursing following my migration to the United States in the late 90s. I received a Master’s Degree in Nursing with a specialty in Family Practice and a Doctor of Nursing (DNP) specializing in nursing education from Regis College.
I am a practicing clinician and have been in nursing academia for over 12 years. I enjoy using a holistic approach to integrate practice experiences in interactions with my students. I feel fulfilled to be part of a team that prepares the next generation of nurses.
I am a current member of the following nursing organizations, the Association of Black Nurse Faculty, the Association of American Nurse Practitioners, Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, and the Massachusetts Rhode Island League of Nursing.
My research focuses on two areas: the use of the formalized mentoring program to support the transition of new nurse educators into academia and decreasing racial discrimination and inequity in the nursing profession.
Emmanuel is a place where students broaden their sense of what’s possible and prepare for inspiring careers in an ever-changing world. Be here.
