I am a feminist media studies scholar whose work focuses on popular and digital cultures. Specifically, my research explores the ways in which pop culture and social media intersect to provide everyday opportunities to negotiate social justice and equity. I am currently finishing my first book, Platform Feminism: Celebrity Culture and the New Woke Imperative, which explores how networked publics use discussions of celebrity culture to debate intersectional feminist politics and activism.
I hold a Ph.D. in Communication and Media from the University of Michigan, an M.A. in Film Studies from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a B.A. in Literary and Cultural Studies from the University of Oklahoma.
What I Love About Emmanuel:
Although I'm just starting my journey at Emmanuel, I am so impressed by the students' eagerness to learn and challenge themselves. Already I sense in my students such a drive to grow intellectually, and I look forward to being a part of that process with them.
