Tim Stone - Aircraft Sourcing Consultant, Magellan Jets

  • Major: Management
  • Class of 2014

When Tim Stone transferred to Emmanuel College during his sophomore year, he immediately found a supportive community who helped him realize that in order to be successful, he needed to step outside of his comfort zone.

"Emmanuel was the eye-opener I needed," he said. "I started focusing on my schoolwork and gaining experience in order to be a strong, professional candidate upon completion of my courses. Besides the excitement of the city and the vision of one day being a professional living in a thriving area, the staff and professors are what kept me motivated and helped shape the person I am today."

A management major, Stone's defining experience was an internship at the nonprofit concert promoter Celebrity Series of Boston, where he worked with the director of operations on organizing and preparing production documents and resources, creating performance itineraries, advancing and fulfilling backstage hospitality, coordinating artist merchandise sales, assisting with financial reconciliation of performance-related expenses and assisting backstage at performances.

"This was a great opportunity for me to get a firm grasp on what my skills are and what it takes to be successful in an operations-type position," Stone said. "I could not have asked for a better experience."

Stone currently works as an aircraft consultant for Magellan Jets, a leader in private aircraft charter and member trips. His focus is on developing and maintaining professional relationships with clients and operators, and he is responsible for scheduling private jets for customers and members, increasing profitability through purchasing, working with the wholesale market, and maintaining and improving vendor relations. His duties include negotiating pricing, logistics and all aspects of aircraft operations.

"I work with a tremendous group of young professionals in a small, friendly environment - an aspect that I grew quite fond of while attending Emmanuel," Stone said.

Stone encourages current students to be open to new experiences in a city full of opportunities and to step outside of their own comfort zones.
