Academic Science Center - Opening 2009

Sister Janet Eisner, SND, President, and the Trustees of Emmanuel College are delighted to announce the construction of a new Academic Science Center adjacent to our historic Administration building. This Center reflects our goal to build distinctive academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences by leveraging Emmanuel's unique location in Boston and in the heart of the Longwood Medical Area.

The Academic Science Center has been designed to:

  • Advance the educational mission of the College by increasing opportunities for interactive teaching and learning and to enable the College to better prepare students in the sciences and other fields
  • Enhance the academic experience for students and faculty and optimize the use of space to build community and foster collaboration
  • Provide state-of-the-art classrooms for all disciplines
  • Maximize energy efficiency as a "green" building, emphasizing sustainability
  • Provide student study areas, common meeting space and faculty offices for collaborative learning

The College is committed to a beautiful, green campus, and all project plans reflect this commitment. An underground parking garage opens up even more green space and will allow for the planting of additional trees and shrubs as the project progresses.

We hope you share in our excitement as we continue to enhance our academic programs and our campus. We appreciate your patience during this construction phase.
