Mildred Hibbard Sartucci is continuing to work as a psychiatric nurse at the age of 73! "You can't keep a good woman down — thanks be to god," exclaims Mildred. September/October 2004

Claudette Roy Dachowski completed an M. Ed in 1986 and an M.A. in Theological Studies in 2002, both from Notre Dame College in Manchester, New Hampshire. After teaching art and art history for 20 years, Claudette is now the Director of Religious Education for her parish, Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, in Hampton, NH. Jan/Feb 2004

Mary Parella was just re-elected to her sixth term in Rhode Island's State Senate under its new redistricting plan. She now represents the towns of Bristol and Portsmouth. Winter 2003.

Patricia Stigliani Beeason continues to work for Children's Hospital as a Human Resources Professional. Her husband is anticipating starting his fourth retail business this year. Winter 2003.

Patricia Ann Stigliani Beason has spent the last two years working as a Human Resource Associate at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati. She is also co-owner of two small businesses with her husband. Spring 2002.

Frances Johnson retired in May 2003 from private practice as a licensed and nationally certified mental health counselor. She is enjoying winters in Florida and summer on Cape Cod. Mar/Apr 2004

Christine Hoffmann Beote has been married to husband Michael for 30 years. She continues to work as an RN in the operating room at Beverly Hospital. She has one son, Brian, a senior at Salem State College. Nov/Dec 2003

Maryellen LeGrow Stone is living in Reading, MA with husband Bob. She works in Salem, having just been trained as a Reading Recovery teacher. Spring/Summer 2003.

Sister Eleanore R. Calouro passed away on January 17, 2003. She taught at several Catholic schools throughout her life and went on to the Pastoral Care Ministry at various hospitals. Our deepest sympathies to her family and friends. Winter 2003.

Meredith Mason-Crowley is living in Winchester with her husband Dave and son David, age eleven. She is currently teaching in Medford as a Special Needs teacher. Summer 2001

Class of 1977

Holly Hamlett has been hired as the Manager of Care Coordination Department at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Los Angeles, CA. The hospital has given post-burn and orthopedic treatment to over 40,000 children since its opening in 1952. November/December 2006

Marylou Brewster wrote to say that she is still a financial advisor with a practice in Tysons Corner, VA. She lives in Great Falls with her husband and daughter. Her son is now a junior in college. Deborah Alfano-Perriello and her family recently celebrated the graduation of her daughter, Gioia, from the University of Hartford with a BFA in photography; the graduation of her son, Christopher from high school and the upcoming graduation of their youngest, Jonathan from high school next year, with a trip to Hawaii this past July. The family's first stop was Pearl Harbor, a historical site they did not want to miss. There were only two boats that took groups out to the memorial, and Deborah and her family were the 18th group of the day. As it turns out, Anastacia "Stacey" George Como '77, Deborah's former friend and roommate, was also on the 18th tour of the day with her family, who had traveled to Hawaii from Connecticut! Deborah found this "meeting by chance incredible!" After such a tremendous reunion, Deborah promises not to let another 28 years go by without contacting an old Emmanuel friend. July/August 2005

Janet Semple-Hess, M.D. is hosting the Emmanuel College Alumni Club of Southern California's April 2005 meeting, despite her busy schedule at Children's Hospital. She and her family spent the spring holiday in Montreal. March/April 2005

As most of you know, our classmate Mary Grandfield is in Indonesia at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta. Your class correspondent Julie Donovan Gantley wrote to check on her well-being and fortunately she is safe. Part of her response is below:

"Thanks so much for writing. Please spread the word among our class friends that I am safe and fine. The capital of Indonesia, Jakarta, is far from where the devastation is on the island of Sumatra.... Fortunately, as far as we know thus far, there were no Americans living in the affected areas. So our efforts here at the Embassy are concentrated on getting the United States disaster assistance organized and delivered quickly. We are delivering food, water, medicines, plastic sheeting (for tents) and other essential supplies as fast as humanly possible. The U.S. military and USAID personnel who are putting their lives on the line going into the disaster zone deserve all our credit and our prayers. I hope you and your family have a safe, happy and healthy New Year in 2005." November/December 2004

Mary Grandfield has been appointed Consul General of the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. Mary reports that she is enjoying this job and the people, although she feels very far from home. She doesn't speak the language yet, but knowing Mary, she will very soon. Mar/Apr 2004

Janet Semple-Hess is a very busy mom of three young children (ages 5, 8 and 11, and is doing well) and is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at USC/Children's Hospital in Los Angeles. She works with critically ill children. She is a member of the Southern California Emmanuel Club and would like to encourage any Emmanuel grads in the area to join. Mar/Apr 2004

Liz Sheils Howard is still in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she is a Reading Recovery teacher and mother of four (ages 11, 12, 13 and 14). She is completing course work for her Master's Degree in Elementary Literacy and she will be done in May. Mar/Apr 2004

Mary Jo Skayhan Rogers reports that her daughter, Hillary, will be attending Vanderbilt in Nashville next year. She mentioned that Tricia Griffin's daughter is currently a freshman there. Mary Jo's husband, Brian, is now a Chief investment Officer at T. Rowe Price. Mar/Apr 2004

Patricia O'Leary has just completed her first semester as an adjunct instructor at North Shore Community College. She also works full time at North Shore Medical Center as a receivables analyst. Nov/Dec 2003

Toula Jaravinos Halperin says 2002 has flown by for her and her family. Her new business, College Advising, is a source of excitement and fun for her. Winter 2003.

Patricia A. O'Leary will begin teaching part-time at North Shore Community College in the spring 2003 semester. Winter 2003.

Pauline D. Ruel has continued her education at The University of Tennessee Knoxville with a Masters of Science in Nursing in Psychiatric/Mental Health. Winter 2003

Mary Jo Skayhan Rogers ran the Baltimore Marathon and did well considering she had never run farther then five miles before taking up this endeavor. She is hooked and may run the Boston Marathon this year. Spring 2002.

Valerie Sullivan is enjoying retirement and expanding her "crop of grandchildren." Summer 2001

Leslie Lopez Foster and her husband, Todd, co-pastor an inner city church called Church of the Rock, in New Haven, CT. Their eldest daughter, Erica, is a junior at Brown University and their youngest daughter, Stephanie, is a freshman at Boston College. Summer 2001

Class of 1976

Patricia "Tia" McCormack is currently a guidance counselor for students in Information Technology and Engineering at Nature Coast Technical High School in Brooksville, FL. March/April 2006

An exhibition of artwork by Mary T. Dewey will be featured at The Westboro Gallery from September 10 through November 13, 2005. The display is entitled "Everyday Sacred," mainly showcasing still-life paintings that Mary describes as demonstrating "an observed relationship with the every day by elevating the ordinary to an inspirational level." After obtaining her BA in art at Emmanuel, Mary went on to earn her master's degree in creative arts in learning at Lesley University. She also studied painting and photography at the New Hampshire Art Institute. Now a certified art specialist, Mary is a visual arts teacher and department head at St. Peter-Marian Junior-Senior High School in Worcester. July/August 2005

Joanne Choquette Curley was named the Plainville School District 2005 Teacher of the Year. She is the first woman from Plainville High School to receive this award. During the last 15 years, Joanne has served as an Instructional Leader of world languages, and enrollment in language classes has increased by over 22 percent. Joanne initiated a University of Connecticut Coop program in Spanish, established honor societies in Spanish, French, and Italian, and has created a scholarship fund. The scholarship was established for seniors who study a language for four years in high school and plan to major in a language in college. In 2002 Joanne secured a quarter of a million dollar state grant for the town of Plainville to install a state-of-the-art SONY digital world language lab. She also received a ten thousand dollar grant for an elementary Italian program. Presently, Joanne is serving as advisor to the Spanish club and will be escorting a group of students to Spain during April vacation. She is also teaching an after school Spanish course for the gifted and talented students in grades five through seven in the Plainville School District. January/February 2005

Pamela Corradino D'Amore will be moving to Tampa, FL in January 2004 to start her new job as Director of the Heart Institute at St Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. Nov/Dec 2003

Pauline D. Provencher Martineau is both a junior high school history teacher and the 8th grade dean of students and athletic director. She is also teaching psychology and sociology at a New Hampshire Nursing School. She is also director of the Granite State Cloggers. Nov/Dec 2003

Barcia Spiecnzy Thomson is living in Scottsdale, Arizona. She has been happily married for 24 years to her husband Lindsay. She has two great sons: Jan, 20, and Braedon, 16. Barcia has taught art for 17 years in British Columbia, Canada. Nov/Dec 2003

Andrea Izzi Craven hasn't gone far! She is an English Teacher across the street from Emmanuel at Boston Latin School. Sept/Oct 2003.

Elaine Gibson is in her fifth year as Principal at the Lucy Stone Elementary School in Boston. She has two daughters, Robin, 16, and Reann, 14. Sept/Oct 2003.

Alaine Bettencourt-Portway was married on November 28, 2002 to Eric Portway. She has bought a home in North Andover, and has a new job as a marketing manager for software start-up Omnify Software.  Winter 2003.

Mary Dewey still loves her job teaching art at St. Peter-Marian High School and exhibiting her art at the Westborough Gallery. Her daughter Katie just finished her freshman year at Lesley University and son James works in Admissions at Anna Maria College in Worcester. Their dad Steve is very proud. Spring/Summer 2003.

Margaret Lyster Chamberlain is a sculptor exhibiting in jured art shows and festivals. She has two children, Carter and Brianna, ages 13 and 12. Summer 2001

Patricia Chane has joined the Boston Museums Association as a violinist. She has been an active performer on Violand Violin Service. Summer 2001

Mary Pasciucco Graziano is teaching all levels of mathematics at her alma mater, Archbishop Williams High School, and continues as Chair of the Canton Schol Committee. Summer 2001

Pauline Provencher Martineau is teaching social studies and is the Department Chair, the 8th grade Dean of Students, and the Athletic Director at St. Joseph Regional Junior High School in Manchester, NH. She is the Director of the Granite State Cloggers Dance Group. Summer 2001

Jeanne Wenger has been working for many years in Information Technology at Comverse Network Systems in Wakefield, MA. Debbie Donovan Perez is currently a third grade bilingual (Spanish) teacher at the Comprehensive Grammar School in Methuen, MA. Jeanne, Debbie, Danielle Berzinis (Data Analyst at Boston College), Deborah Deery (living in South Bend, IN) and Andrea Der Boghosian (Management Consultant) all attended the September 23rd wedding of Mary Beth Cahill and Steve Champlin in Washington, DC. Mary Beth was recently appointed Chief of Staff to US Senator Edward Kennedy. Summer 2001

Laurie Shannahan Wenger was promoted to Assistant Principal in Brookline, NH where she is also the Curriculum Coordinator. Mary Beth Claus Tobin is the Executive Director of the Children's Centers with four locations in South Natick, Needham and Westwood, MA. Laurie and Mary Beth meet at parent events in Connecticut since they both have a child attending Fairfield University. They even run into Mimi Reeves Whelan at Fairfield vs. Bucknell field hockey games since Mimi's daughter plays for Bucknell. Mimi keeps busy as a member of the METCO Staff for the Concord Public Schools. Summer 2001

Gwyn Oesterle Thakur was appointed Marketing Director of the search engine marketing firm NetElixer in January 2006. Gwyn has over 25 years of experience in the field, having founded Effective Marketing LLC, as well as having served as Vice President of marketing at Carat Freeman, the largest technology media company in the United States. Gwyn is also on the board of MassWIT (Massachusetts Women in Technology), and she is a corporator at Emerson Hospital in Concord. January/February 2006

Katherine O'Dea was interviewed in the August 2005 issue of Providence Business News. She was featured for her position as executive director of Tech Collective, formerly named the Rhode Island Technology Council. Katherine is actively creating a discussion forum for technology companies through Tech Collective. The organization's goal is to put the best thinking together from the best, brightest and most innovative companies in the area. September/October 2005

Nancy D'Anna, photographer and business owner, was the feature guest of June Night's series, "Women in Business and Entrepreneurs," aired on radio station WODS-FM 103.3 in August 2004. Nancy has been in business in Saugus for six years and has more than 30 years experience as a photographer. She specializes in custom portraits, weddings, and corporate photography. Her business, D'Anna Imaging, is located in the historical Cliftondale Train Depot that she renovated herself. March/April 2005

Anne Marie Martineau currently works for ServiceNet, Inc., a non-profit human service agency, as the Division Director for Residential Services in Franklin and Hampshire Counties. She also teaches as an adjunct staff in the Social Work Department at Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee, which reminds her of a Western Mass Emmanuel. She enjoys supporting students in career development. Anne Marie is looking forward to seeing her classmates in June. She missed the 25th Reunion due to a severe hip problem, but she has since gotten the "bionic" version that works quite well. March/April 2005

Linda Ferrera Ausiello's older daughter, Leigh, graduated from Mass College of Art in May 2004. Linda has been named an Honorary Alumni at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA, where she has taught French and Spanish for 24 years. The ceremony took place on February 8, 2005. Lori A. Vaz received a 2004 Harold Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Teaching. May/June 2004

On February 25th, the Boston Globe ran a wonderful story written by Marie Campagna Franklin about a "Herd" of Emmanuel graduates that reunited in New York City. This group of 17 alums from the Class of '75 celebrated their 50th birthdays together and enjoyed many of the great attractions New York City has to offer. Susan Lantagne Schranze continues to work as a Hospital Administrator at Bridgewater State Hospital which received JCAHO accreditation in 2003 and national recognition by the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare as "Facility of the Year for 2003." Jan/Feb 2004

Linda Ferrera Ausiello is in her 23rd year teaching French and Spanish at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, Mass. Her oldest daughter, Leah, is a senior at Mass College of Art. Her younger daughter, Hope, is a junior at Bishop Feehan High School. Linda spends her time between North Attleboro, MA, Claremont, Florida and Cork, Ireland, where her husband Frank is working. Gail Hession Dennig married Gerald Dennig, earned a law degree, passed the bar exam and is now in private practice while continuing to teach English at Amesbury High School. Their five children (her three children and his two) are all in college or will attend next year. Nov/Dec 2003

Marie Campangna Franklin and several classmates celebrated their 50th birthday in New York City last fall. The group took in a Broadway show, dined at Tavern on the Green, and enjoyed more than 30 years of friendship together during their three day reunion. Sister Barbara A. Barry SND was appointed the first President of Notre Dame Academy in Hingham in July of 2002. Winter 2003.

Dorothy A. Works is currently a grade six and seven Language Arts teacher in Chapel Hill, NC. She was recently listed in the Who's Who Among America's Teachers 2002 ed. Winter 2003.

Christine Lucey-Meagher is married to Kevin Meagher and is living with her four children in Worcester. She is currently teaching high school art at South High School in Worcester. Winter 2003.

Martha Smith is married to Peter Smith and has two children, Anna (8) and Alex (6). Martha is currently a Speech Pathologist. Spring 2002.

Helene Schwartz Loomis lives in South Easton, MA and is the mother of three great children. Susan is 20, Andrew is 19 and Deborah 16. Helene teaches French and Spanish at the John J. Ahern Middle School in Foxboro. She sends her greetings to all! Spring 2002.

Jeannie Donovan left her position as an Art Teacher at Reading High School after 16 years to pursue a career as a fine artist and graphic designer. She currently holds a position as an administrative assistant at Lesley University. She recently moved from Medford to Beverly on the North Shore. She very much enjoys living by the ocean, and her studio is located in her new condo. November/December 2006

Maureen Scullin Perkoski was named 2005 Teacher of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce for the Attleboro Area. A fifth and sixth grade teacher at Brennen Middle School, Maureen was picked from seven nominees for her essay on the philosophy of education and today's role of the teacher. July/August 2005

Aprille Query Soderman is a real estate sales professional in the Pioneer Valley. She joined Keller Williams Realty's Longmeadow Market Center in August 2004. March/April 2005

Mary Slafer Twiraga will be teaching a multi-age class (grades one and two) in Easton next year. Her youngest son will be entering Catholic University in Washington DC where he'll study music education. May/June 2004

Maria Sciuto Fontaine continues to teach in the Haverhill Public School System. She graduates from Endicott with a Master's in Creative Arts in Learning, May 2004. Her recent art works will be shown at The Pentucket Arts Center Gallery in Haverhill in June 2004. Maria served as the Visual Arts Education Program Reviewer for the DOE at UMASS Amherst this winter. Her son Gene, 25, works for the Lottery and is a freelance graphic designer and guitar player songwriter with the band "Pica." Mar/Apr 2004

Nancy Bosworth Biederman has four daughters: Samantha, class of 2003 at Emmanuel; Jaclyn, class of 2006 at Emmanuel; Veronica, class of 2007 at Emmanuel; and Joanna, class of 2004 at Merrimack College. Nov/Dec 2003

Grace Siegel DeGregorio is the editor of a community magazine in Cincinnati and recently completed a freelance project as editor-in-chief of a guide about the city. She is also active in volunteer work, including several church committees. Nov/Dec 2003

In April 2003, Mary F. Lucas married Ed Junkins and immediately acquired 16 grandchildren! Nov/Dec 2003

Jane Dunne-Brady took part in the "Print and Paper" Exhibit of the Non-Toxic Print Society. Her work is featured in the Neo-Mimbreno Exhibit at The Silver City Museum. She won second prize in the Graphics Division of the Black Range Artists Exhibit at Deming Arts Center. Jane is also featured in two galleries in Silver City, Yankie Creek and the Munay Hotel Gallery. Sept/Oct 2003.

Anne Crowley Leete is in her sixth year teaching high school English and history, since her husband's death eight years ago. Her oldest son graduated from Brandeis in May 2002. Her daughter is headed for college in September 2003, and her youngest son is in the seventh grade. She still frequently keeps in touch with M.A. French, Betty Pugzles and Mary Quinn. Winter 2003.

Kathleen Tucker Gustafson is the choir director at Groveland Congregational Church and part-time music teacher at Canterbury Children's Center in Wakefield, MA. Winter 2003.

Marilyn Sears Gustafson's daughter Meghan Gustafson is a member of Emmanuel's Class of 2006. Winter 2003.

Ellen Craue Goff and her husband George adopted their son Joseph David ("JD") from Guatemala, bringing him home in March with much joy! Winter 2003.

Annette Gonthier Kreg is current Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. There was a front-page feature about her case in the 11/04/02 issue of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly: "Expert Admissions Key to 3.75 Med-Mal Statement," with photo. Winter 2003.

Connie L. Brennan has been promoted to Senior Vice President in the Government Banking Department at Peoples Heritage Bank in Portland, ME. She is serving as a Senior Business Development Officer. Spring 2002.

Madeline George was recently promoted to Senior Vice President and Head of Retail Banking of First Trade Union Bank, a $300 million federally chartered savings bank headquartered in Boston. Spring 2002.

Catherine Christian McGue thinks it's great that Emmanuel is now coed!! Spring 2002.

Margaret Labieniec Stewart is an independent education consultant and trainer. She is a national trainer for Project Crisis and the University of Kansas Strategic Instruction Model. Spring 2002.

Class of 1973

Marcia Hastay Kelly died at her home in Columbia, SC on March 6, 2006 after a long battle with breast cancer. In 1981, she received a Master of Arts degree in Education of Deaf-Blind Children from San Francisco State University. Marcia devoted her career to helping children with disabilities and educating the public on preventative health measures for the well-being of all children. Some of Marcia's most noteworthy achievements include: Bright Beginnings, a new state preschool curriculum in South Carolina; a successful public health education campaign encouraging expectant mothers to take folic acid to prevent neural tube defects; a handbook on the causes and prevention of mental retardation and related disabilities for South Carolina health professionals; a video on the prevention of neural tube defects which was awarded a Film and Video Award from the Counsel on International Non-theatrical Events in the category of public health education. Marcia's work will be continued through an endowed program for sensory-impaired children from birth to age three and their parents at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, called "Kelly's Kids." Donna Driscoll-Tarnoff left her position as Senior Vice President and General Manager at LoJack Corporation and accepted an offer to become Senior Vice President of Brand Management and Corporate Communications at John Hancock Life Insurance Company. As Senior VP, Donna is responsible for brand strategy and maintaining the internal and external communications for the company. July/August 2005

Marilyn Matthews Hausammann has been named Harvard University's first Vice President of Human Resources. After being the global director of human resources at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Marilyn now assumes the newly created role of vice president, in which she will lead efforts to attract, develop and retain its workforce of about 15,000 people. July/August 2005

Catherine Gorman LeFrank is now teaching religion at Marian High School in Framingham, MA after ten years of teaching at Matignon High School in Cambridge. This 2004-2005 school year is her 27th year of teaching for the Archdiocese of Boston. March/April 2005

In 2003, Susan Greeley Murati received a doctorate in psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego. Her dissertation was entitled, "A Cultural Psychological Study of the Narratives of the Ex-Politically Persecuted People of Albania: Toward a National Narrative." Susan worked with ex-political prisoners in Albania from 1993 to 1995 and returned twice afterwards to complete her research. In 1994, she married Asllan Murati, an Albanian chemist. Currently she lives in Chatham and works as a clinician on Cape Cod. March/April 2005

Rev. James A. Wenzel, OSA (M.A.) was named director of the Augustinian Center for Study and Legacy at Merrimack College. The center offers opportunities for individuals to understand and appreciate St. Augustine of Hippo as well as the Augustine Order, the Merrimack college's founding order. It also promotes research and writing on the life of Augustine and Augustinian Friars. March/April 2005

Nancy Novelline Clayburgh received the United way of Greater Seacoast Volunteer Action Center's Spirit of the Seacoast Award. An article published in the Seacoast Newspaper talks extensively of Nancy's compassionate commitment to humanity. She is a Eucharistic minister at St. James Church in Portsmouth and a founding member and current board member of countless community groups and non profit agencies. This award recognizes volunteers four times a year who make an impact on the lives of others, who strive to strengthen community service and devote countless time and energy to these areas. As a United Way award recipient, Nancy received a $500 grant from the Federal Savings bank to donate to the United Way Agency of her choosing. Due to her own personal efforts of helping to start the FRIENDS Project and the Portsmouth Education Partnership (PEP), Nancy has decided to split to grant up between the two. Former Emmanuel College mathematics professor Robert Middleton is teaching at University of Missouri in Kansas City. He writes that the years he taught at Emmanuel were some of the happiest of his life, made so by the people he knew at Emmanuel. He saw a classnote about one of the many terrific students he had the privilege to teach and a wonderful nostalgia came flooding over him. Sylvia Quintanilla is a retired high school teacher who taught Spanish, Spanish for Native Speakers, and English as a Second Language. Jacqueline (Jackie) Rolnick thanks everyone at Emmanuel who prayed for her son's safe return from Iraq. After a year with the First Styker Brigade in Tal Afar and Mosul, Captain Nathan Machado, a 2002 West Point grad, returned to Ft. Lewis, WA shortly before Thanksgiving of 2005. While he was in Iraq, Jackie was touring Russia. She went to Moscow, St. Petersburg, and took a Volga River cruise. November/December 2005

Marguerite (Maggie) Debbire joined Mass Development in July 2005 as senior vice president of asset management in the real estate division. September/October 2005

Mary Lee Frisbie was awarded the 2005 St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation from St. Ann's in Milford, CT. May/June 2005

Elizabeth (Beth) Asci Hayes '73 visited Emmanuel on Saturday, April 2, 2005, with Mary Wallace Baltren '73, Maria Tarullo '72, Maye Mahoney Hart '72 and Kathleen O'Brien '73, as well as with non-graduating classmates Jean Whalen Smuckler and Karen Jepeal Landsberg. Beth commented on the amazing changes that have taken place at the school, including the new food in the cafeteria and the new buildings. She was also impressed with the students she met. When she and the others walked into St. Joe's, hoping to get a tour, a student in the lobby offered to show the group her own room. It turned out to be exactly as the group remembered, although the student guide laughed when they called the basement "The Smoker." It is now an exercise room. The ladies concluded the day with a stroll down Brookline Ave., past Fenway and into Kenmore. It was a great way to have fun and re-connect. March/April 2005

Patricia M. Flynn has been named to the American Express Funds Board of Directors. She will serve on the Joint Audit and Investment Review Committees. She is the former dean of McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley College in Waltham. She is currently trustee professor of Economics and Management at Bentley. After graduating from Emmanuel, Patricia received her M.A. and her Ph.D. in economics from Boston University. January/February 2005

Ann Welch Kearney is looking forward to her son, Brendan's, graduation from Holy Cross. Her son Mike is in his first year at Fordham University. Ann enjoyed seeing Eleanor Weldon Sauers, Bonnie Quesnel Durand and Joan Mercier Cicione while on the college tour last spring. She'll be on the road again next year with her son Kevin, 17. Donna Malvey relocated to Satellite Beach, Florida in 2003 and felt truly blessed to have a great job opportunity combined with a chance to live beachside. After four hurricanes in 2004, she can verify that she is indeed blessed, having sustained minimal damage to her property. In 2003, she also had a chance to visit an expanding and very lively Emmanuel campus. Donna was in Boston to give a talk on physician leadership as part of Grand Rounds at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. After her talk, she wandered over to the campus to see one of her west coast relations, Tiare Baird '07. Although Donna didn't find Tiare, who is a typically busy Emmanuel student, she did discover building projects and students everywhere. January/February 2005

Anne E. Doyle has received tenure in the English Department at Bridgewater State College. In January 2005, she begins a sabbatical to work on a book analyzing the nature of writing research. November/December 2004

Mary Eva Candon continues her eclectic law practice in Washington D.C. Her most recent "client" is the BAR Association of the District of Columbia, for which she has assumed the title of Executive Vice President and which honored Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor as its "Lawyer of the Year" on December 6, 2003. Mary Eva continues to enjoy her native town of DC for many reasons, not the least of which is that "everybody comes through DC at least once in their life time, and I get to see them and catch up." Just in the past half year she has hosted Ann Keegan Gallo, Anne Pollard, Mary Barrett, David Chatel, Ann Riccio and daughter Kristy, Ann Welch Kearney and daughter Sheila, all of the class of '72. Mary Eva was also thrilled to spend time with other '72ers on a visit to Boston in September: Katy Wolf, Ann Carroll, Claire Pollard, Gen Coppa Meegan, Pat McKenna and Pat Roche Derba. They have maintained this tradition since the promises made at their 5th year reunion — usually in the form of a special dinner or overnight at a seaside B&B. Irene Jaski Bozogan opened Evergreen Outfitters in Ashville, NY. Outfitters is a pack and paddle specialty shop which sells and services kayaks and canoes. They also sell camping and hiking gear; they have rentals and offer wilderness expeditions.

Linda Donahue's mother, Anne Donahue, passed away on January 25, 2000 after a five-year courageous battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to many, especially her husband, Robert, and her nine children. Summer 2001

Patricia Harris is working as a Research Director at WGBH. Her daughter Emily Kirk, 20, is a student at UMass Amherst; her daugher Jenny Kirk, 16, is a Junior World Champion in figure skating. Summer 2001

Philomena Hare has worked on a wide range of issues with a variety of population groups including employment, health care, women's leadership and development, organizational and program development, adolescents and homeless people. She is now the Director of Social Services at the Salvation Army in Brockton. Summer 2001

Marilyn A. Lasek, an active artists specializing in water media and photography, was awarded one of B2K's 5'5" fiberglass cods in the "Cavalcade of Cod." Look for her "MusiCod" (sponsored by Herb Chambers Companies) at 500 Boylston Street adjacent to Copley Square. Marilyn is also Coordinator for the 14th Annual Allston Arts District Open Studios when her workspace will be open to the public on November 11-12, and is curating a group exhibition from the Allston Arts Disrict during the month of December at the Federal Reserve Bank of the Boston Gallery. Donna Malvey joined the faculty of the Department of Health Policy & Management at the University of Southern Florida in 1997. She has received the outstanding teacher award of the College of Public Health, 1999-2000. Her most recent publication was in the Journal of Management: "Getting Off the Bandwagon: An academic health center takes a different strategic path." Summer 2001

Genevieve Meegan's daugher, Celia, was recently accepted at Emmanuel College! Celia and her dad took a trip to the Philippines, where she was adopted eleven years ago; she collected medical and school supplies to distribute to the orphanage where she had lived. Summer 2001

Elaine Workman O'Brien's son Jarrett is graduating from Syracuse University in May, with a double major in Finance and Marketing. Elaine and her husband are now grandparents of a beautiful grandson, Riley Edward Croce, born June 6, 2000. Summer 2001

Class of 1971

On March 15, 2006, the 65th Annual Meeting of the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York elected Eleanor L. Matthews for a second term on the Board of Directors. Eleanor is the Council's sixth vice president. January/February 2006

Claudia Arrigg Koh was chosen to head the Phillips Andover Academy Annual Giving Board in March 2005. As such, she will serve as a member of the Phillips Academy Board of Trustees. Claudia's sons, Steven and Daniel, are Phillips Academy alumni. Her daughter, Katherine, is currently attending the academy and will graduate in the spring of 2005. Claudia is an ophthalmologist that specializes in cataract and glaucoma surgery. March/April 2005

In the fall of 2004, some members of the class gathered for an unofficial reunion at the Andover Inn in Andover, MA while Catherine Miller Tierney and her husband, Bill, visited from California. Cath was an exchange student from California in her junior year. In attendance were the following members of the class and their husbands: Mary Beth Lyons Bell and her husband Ray, Christine Piekos Patterson and her husband Mark, Eileen Smolak Mauck and her husband Bob, Paula Henderson Von Euw, Maryanne Gryboski and Lanny Kochis, Marilyn Roulier Kirby and her husband Bill, and Mary Morris Anderson and her husband Bob. The eight women have stayed close over the many years of friendship. The group's next adventure is to Chicago for the annual librarians convention. Cath Tierney is the only librarian in the group, but several others go to the convention each summer to catch all the sights and spend as much time with Cath as her schedule allows. There is also talk of going to Italy to celebrate the group's collective 60th birthdays. March/April 2005

On Sunday, February 13, 2005, the New York Times announced classmate Nancy DiNardo's new title as the first female leader of the Connecticut Democrats in an article entitled, "There Is No Hiding from Nancy DiNardo." Nancy was first elected to the Trumbull, CT Town Council at the age of 21. She has served on Trumbell's board of health, finance, and police commission. Nancy has been chairwoman of the Trumbull Democratic Town Committee for 21 years, and she is the former chairwoman of the finance committee for the Connecticut Democratic Party. Her main goal is to help Democrats become elected into the majority of Congressional seats and most importantly, into the governor's office. January/February 2005

Anne Marie Erwin writes that by September of 2001 her family of five will shrink to three as her twin sons begin college life. They will have just one child in the house for the first time. "These years are just flying by and we're trying to hang on and enjoy the ride." Summer 2001

Lee Kavanaugh married Stanley Waterman in 1995 and moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She is self-employed as a leadership coach and trainer and they spend the summers hiking the Canadian Rockies. Summer 2001

Denise Lamoureux received the Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement for promoting excellence in the teaching of science. She teaches Biology at Apponquet Regional High School in Lakeville, MA and serves as a consultant for the College Board. Summer 2001

In 2005, Eleanor M. Miller became Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Vermont. November/December 2006

Alicia Fagan acknowledges that Emmanuel College and Sr. Ann Cyril Delaney were incredibly important in shaping her life. Although Alicia could not afford to attend beyond her sophomore year, Emmanuel and the sisters of Notre Dame de Namur planted seeds that now grow in her wonderful daughter, who may attend Emmanuel in the fall of 2006. March/April 2006

On May 11, 2006 longtime teacher and administrator, Kathleen Flannery, passed away in her East Boston home from pancreatic cancer. A Hartford native, Kathleen started teaching in the Boston public school system during the desegregation period in the 1970's. She taught at many city schools before becoming Assistant Headmaster of the Jeremiah E. Burch High School in Dorchester. For the past 12 years Kathleen worked at the Edward Everett Elementary School in Dorchester and left a lasting impression among students, faculty and parents. She helped with the program to refurbish the library and playground. She also secured grants and partnerships to aid the City's music programs. May/June 2006

After receiving her BA from Emmanuel in History, Eileen O'Sullivan O'Duill pursued her master's degree in History at New York University. In 1974, Eileen moved to Ireland and met her husband Sean O'Duill. Together, Eileen and Sean have five Irish-speaking children: Rita, a secondary school teacher; Caitlin, a primary school teacher; Sorcha, a medical doctor; Sean, a post-graduate student at National University of Ireland at Maynooth; and Laura, a Leaving Certificate (high school) student. In 1991, Eileen was able to turn a lifelong hobby into a business by providing a professional genealogical research service.  Eileen, her husband and other colleagues from Ireland lectured at the Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference in Boston earlier this fall. Bresnhahan Boyle '55 and her daughter, who lives in Colchester, VT, wrote to inform the Emmanuel Community that Eleanor Miller has been selected as the new Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Vermont after spending 27 years at the University of Wisconsin as dean of sociology. Alicia M. Fagan, in addition to working as a psychiatric social worker, has been facilitating the Near Death Experience Support Group at the UConn Medical Center. Her children Nora and Michael are ages 14 and 16. Nov/Dec 2003

Kathleen Trask Keating is living in Waverly, Pennsylvania and is the Executive Director of non-profit Waverly Community. She has four grown children and two grandchildren. Nov/Dec 2003

Jeannie Liaros' daughter, Sarah Gillian Sintros, graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro on May 18th. She received numerous Certificates of Excellence in different areas of study. She also received The Saint Julie Award, which is presented to a student nominated by the faculty. Sarah will be attending Suffolk University in the fall. Spring/Summer 2003.

Alicia Fagan is in private psychotherapy practice. She's fine, as long as she keeps her own therapist on retainer. Daughter Nora is 14 and son Michael is 15. Nora visited Emmanuel last September and fell in love with it. Alicia misses Sr. Ann Cyril, who had a profound effect on her life. Winter 2003.

Joan Bennett has been recently appointed a vice president at Laurence and Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut. Winter 2003.

Nancy Kleniewshi has recently taken a job as Provost at Bridgewater State College and is excited about the new challenges there. Winter 2003.

Sandy Cafantaris Pozniak reports that her daughter Alexa is an associate medical producer with ABC News. Alexa was formerly an Assistant Medical Producer with Boston's WCVB-TV, Channel 5. Son Jonathan, a professional photographer, had to postpone a two month photographic journey to India due to United States military action in Afghanistan. Spring 2002.

Martha Mooney Waltien and her husband have lived in Queens, NY for the past seven years. In a few years they hope to be able to move back to Massachusetts, where they feel most at home. Spring 2002.

Jacquelyn Butterfield is a general music teacher at the Varnum Arts Microsociety School in Lowell. She piloted a violin program two years ago and received a matching grant from Keyspan in September to ensure the continuation of the program. Summer 2001

Katherine Etzel Lipman welcomed a new grandson, Samuel Mark Mackey, born on March 3, 2000 to her daughter Kristen and son-in-law Gary. Her daughter Megan travels the world for Air-Inc., of Cambridge, MA. Her youngest daughter, Erin, was married on June 2, 2001. Summer 2001
