Merit Scholarships

Eligibility

In addition to the criteria for individual scholarships, students will meet the following criteria:

  • be enrolled in a degree or certificate program;
  • be enrolled in four graded courses (16 credits) each semester for scholarship eligibility; and,
  • be making satisfactory academic progress as defined by the College.

The deadlines for applying for Emmanuel scholarships are: January 25, 2008 for first-year students; April 1, 2008 for fall semester transfers; and November 1, 2008 for spring semester transfers.

Presidential Scholarship

The award for the prestigious Presidential Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship. In order to renew this scholarship, students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average while at Emmanuel.

First-year students considered for this scholarship must provide:

  • exceptional academic credentials (3.7 grade point average or above)
  • SAT scores of 1350 (V+M) or ACT of 32 or above
  • completed application, postmarked by January 25, 2008

Transfer students considered for this scholarship must provide:

  • exceptional academic credentials (3.5 college grade point average or above)
  • a high school record which reflects the criteria used for entering first-year students (3.7 grade point average or above, SAT of 1350 (V+M) or ACT of 32 or higher)
  • completed application, postmarked by April 1, 2008 for fall semester transfers and November 1, 2008 for spring semester transfers.

Dean's Scholarship

The award for the Dean's Scholarship is $15,000. In order to renew this scholarship, students must maintain a 3.3 grade point average while at Emmanuel.

First-year students considered for this scholarship must provide:

  • strong academic credentials (3.5 grade point average or above)
  • SAT scores of 1250 (V+M) or ACT of 30 or higher
  • completed application, postmarked by January 25, 2008

Transfer students considered for this scholarship must provide:

  • strong academic credentials (3.3 college grade point average or above)
  • a high school record which reflects the criteria used for entering first-year students (3.5 grade point average or above, SAT of 1250 (V+M) or ACT of 30 or higher)
  • completed application, postmarked by: April 1, 2008 for fall semester transfers and November 1, 2008 for spring semester transfers.

Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Scholarship

This $2,500 scholarship is given to students recommended by members of the founding order of Emmanuel College. To be considered for this scholarship, students must submit a written recommendation from a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur. The deadline for this scholarship is January 25, 2008. To request a recommendation form, please contact the Office of Admissions. The deadline for transfer students is April 1, 2008 for the fall semester and November 1, 2008 for the spring semester.

Academic Achievement Scholarship

The award for the Academic Achievement Scholarship ranges from $7,500-$12,500. In order to renew this scholarship, students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average while at Emmanuel.

First-year students considered for this scholarship must provide:

  • strong academic credentials (3.4 grade point average or above)
  • SAT scores of 1100 (V+M) or ACT of 23 or higher
  • completed application, postmarked by January 25, 2008

Transfer students considered for this scholarship must provide:

  • strong academic credentials (3.0 college grade point average or above)
  • a high school record which reflects the criteria used for entering first-year students (3.4 grade point average or above, SAT of 1100 (V+M) or ACT of 23 or higher)
  • completed application, postmarked by April 1, 2008 for fall semester transfers and November 1, 2008 for spring semester transfers.

Friends of Emmanuel College Scholarship

The extended Emmanuel family represents loyal and dedicated people throughout the United States and abroad. Eligibility for this $2,500 scholarship is a nomination from an alumnus or a current faculty or staff member of the College. The deadline for this scholarship is January 25, 2008. To request a recommendation form, please contact the Office of Admissions. The deadline for transfer students is April 1, 2008 for fall semester transfers and November 1, 2008 for spring semester transfers.

City of Boston Scholarship

Students, first-year or transfer, who are residents of the city of Boston are eligible for consideration of this $4,500 scholarship. In order to renew this scholarship, students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average while at Emmanuel.

Students considered for this scholarship must provide:

  • a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 (transfer students must also demonstrate a college grade point average of 3.0 or above)
  • SAT of 1000 (V+M) or higher or ACT of 21 or higher
  • completed application, postmarked by: January 25, 2008 for first-year students; April 1, 2008 for fall semester transfers; and November 1, 2008 for spring semester transfers.

Leadership/Community Service Scholarship

Each year, twenty-five $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate exemplary leadership or community service experience. Students wishing to be considered for this scholarship must submit a written recommendation which states the type of leadership position or community service activity the student participated in, the length of service, and any particular accomplishments. First-year students and transfers are eligible for this scholarship. The deadline for this scholarship is January 25, 2008. The deadline for transfer students is April 1, 2008 for the fall semester and November 1, 2008 for the spring semester. In order to renew this scholarship, students must maintain a 2.5 grade point average, be an active member of the L.E.A.D.E.R.S. Program and participate in the Leadership Institute, which is sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and Multicultural Programs.  Read about the programs here.
