Applying for Financial Aid

For financial aid purposes, the 2007-2008 academic year concludes with the Spring 2008 courses. The 2008-2009 academic year begins with the Summer 2008 courses and concludes with the Spring 2009 courses.

Required applications and paperwork:

1.  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
This application may be completed on line at http://www.fafsa.edu.gov. (You will need your Federal PIN to electronically sign this application. If you do not have or have misplaced your PIN, you may request one at www.pin.ed.gov). Emmanuel College's Federal School Code is 002147.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for financial aid, you must:

  • Be officially accepted into a program of study at Emmanuel College by the Office of Graduate and Professional Programs.
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of two courses (six credits) per academic semester (for most forms of financial assistance).
  • Be a citizen, national or permanent resident of the United States or its trust territories.
  • Maintain compliance with Selective Service registration.
  • Be free from default status on any previous federal student loan or aid refund obligation.
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements

To continue receiving financial aid (including federal student loans), you must:

  • Maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average
  • Complete 67% of your attempted credits for each academic year.

Deadlines

Typically, students begin the application process for financial aid in January or February prior to the academic year that they wish to receive financial aid. However, because students may be accepted and begin courses at various time throughout the academic year, you may apply for financial aid through March of the end of the academic year. Please note: to be considered for financial aid from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, your FAFSA must be received by the federal processor no later than May 1 prior to the start of the academic year. You may still apply for financial aid after this deadline; however, you will be considered only for federal sources of financial aid.
