Major: Global Studies
Internship: Office of Former Massachusetts Senator
Studying abroad in Italy her junior year proved a life-altering experience for Brianna. Beyond exploring Europe and utilizing her fluency in Italian, she discovered an interest in the inner workings of U.S. embassies.
It was this interest that led her to undertake a competitive internship at the office of former Massachusetts Senator John Kerry (current Secretary of State) starting in the summer of 2012, one that accepts less than 10 percent of applicants. She was assigned a role as an immigration intern, which she says, strengthened her background in global studies and awakened new possibilities for a future career. After graduation, she intends to explore job opportunities abroad working in embassies, which she feels will complement her time spent in the senator's office.
"I felt completely immersed in the political world," she said. "Because of this experience, I know the career path I want to pursue after graduation."
