Well, that is not exactly what Hamlet said, but it IS the question. How are you going to do all the things you have to get done?
- Set your goals for the semester, for the month, for the week clearly in your mind and on your calendar.
- Each evening, MAKE A LIST — and check it twice — of the things you need to do the next day if you are going to meet your goals for the week, the month, the semester.
- Give each task a rating:
- A = Most important, most urgent
- B = Most important, not quite as urgent
- C = Most urgent, but not quite as important
- D = Good to do, but not important or urgent
- Keep this list with you at all times...
- on a 3x5 card
- in a pocket calendar or planner
- in your book bag
- Check off tasks as you do them.
- Get those A's done first!
- Give priority time to the B's!
- Get the C's done as you go along.
- Check to make sure you do not spend your energies on tasks you have rated as "D."
- Each evening, evaluate how well you checked off the items on your Need To Do list and make up a new list for the next day.
