How Are Your Academic Survival Strategies?

  1. Do you move heaven and earth to get to every class on time — better yet, early?
  2. Are there two classmates who automatically copy their class notes for you when they notice you did not make it to class?
  3. Do you have the phone number of at least one classmate whom you can call to check on assignments or other information?
  4. Do you go over your class notes with care within 24 hours?
  5. Do you already have this semester mapped out on a calendar with tests, assignments and readings — and your other obligations?
  6. Do you have a daily schedule worked out in general with a good idea of how and when you are going to fit in your study time?
  7. Do you already have yourself on a 45 minute study/15 minute break routine?
  8. Have you already made tentative arrangements with two or three of your classmates to have study group meetings before tests?
  9. Are you getting to the text book BEFORE the class and skimming it to see where the class lecture will head?
  10. Are you determined to ask for help at the FIRST SIGN that you are not doing the level work you aim for?
