	September 14, 2006 - We were fortunate to welcome T. R. Reid as our keynote speaker for Convocation. A longtime correspondent for The Washington Post, Reid currently serves as its Rocky Mountain bureau chief. He was former chief of the newspaper's Tokyo and London bureaus and is a commentator for National Public Radio. Reid is the author of Confucius Lives Next Door: What Living in the East Teaches Us About Living in the West, a reflection on his experiences while living in Tokyo for five years and its impact on living in the United States today. This popular text is required reading for our incoming first year class.
