When there are inclement weather conditions, the College will act in accordance with the City of Boston and recommendations by the Governor regarding closing public offices and schools.
The College will remain open with "emergency personnel" during snowstorms or severe weather conditions to maintain a residential campus. "Emergency personnel" includes adequate staffing for campus safety, facilities, food service and residence life. Staff, faculty, students and guests of Emmanuel College should always refer to the Emmanuel homepage for announcements related to inclement weather closings or the cancellation of classes. All Emmanuel staff, faculty and students are required to sign up for the RAVE Emergency Notification System. Internal Emmanuel e-mail addresses are automatically used in the system, but students, staff and faculty should also enter their cell phone number to receive a text and voice-mail message. An alternate e-mail address, as well as additional phone numbers may be entered, allowing students to add family contact information. Students, staff and faculty can sign up by logging into the MySaints portal and going to "My Accounts" and "Emergency Notification System."
The following announcement timelines will apply for college closure and class cancellation due to weather:
6:00 a.m. for day classes (classes that run between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.)
1:00 p.m. for evening classes (classes that run 4:15 p.m. or later).
7:00 a.m. for Saturday morning classes (classes that run from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
11:00 a.m. for Saturday afternoon classes (classes that run 1:00 p.m. or later)
In addition to a notification video the RAVE system, announcements will be posted on the College's website, the MySaints portal, and Facebook and Twitter accounts. The College contacts the following media channels: WHDH-TV/Channel 7, CW56/Channel 56, WCVB/Channel 5, FOX25 and WBZ-TV/RADIO/Channel 4 about closures. Since the College cannot guarantee that local media announces cancellation information promptly or fully, it is always advised that Emmanuel community members check the College's website for the most accurate information.
