Emmanuel President Awarded Honorary Degree by Holy Cross
President Sr. Janet Eisner, SND received an honorary Doctor of Humanities from the College of the Holy Cross during its 167th Commencement exercises on Friday, May 24th.
"With great love, strong determination, and inspired leadership you have brought Emmanuel, closing in on its centenary of offering a Catholic liberal arts education, to new heights," her citation read. "You have done so by always keeping your beloved students and their promising futures as your guide, with a laser-sharp focus on the College'smission and values; and with a profound faith and love of God."

Sr. Janet has had a long relationship with Holy Cross as a current member of the Advisory Board and former member of the Board of Trustees. She also participated as a guest panelist in the Holy Cross Inauguration Faculty Symposium, "Imagining Teaching and Learning at a Jesuit, Liberal Arts College in the 21st Century."
Honorary degrees were also bestowed on Holy Cross's Commencement speaker, author and essayist Anne Faidman (The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down: A Hmong Child, Her American Doctors, and the Collision of Two Cultures, 1997), and Holy Cross alum Jack Rehm '54, former president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board of the Meredith Corporation; he is also a former member of the College's Board of Trustees and current member of its Advisory Board.
