Emmanuel to Celebrate Founders’ Week

Emmanuel College will hold its 22nd annual Founders' Day celebration on Thursday, February 6th, amidst a weeklong series of events honoring the founding of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur (SND) by St. Julie Billiart in 1804, and the founding of Emmanuel College by the SNDs in 1919.

Sr. Anne Stevenson, SND, Director of Communications for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, and Sr. Kristin Hokanson, SND, Founder and Principal of the Notre Dame Virtual School, will deliver the keynote Founders' Day address on "The Global Mission of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur," on Thursday afternoon at 12:15 p.m. in the Janet M. Daley Library Lecture Hall.

Founders' Week is sponsored by the Center for Mission Engagement, which will be hosting an informational table on the events in the Maureen Murphy Wilkens Atrium of the Jean Yawkey Center beginning Monday, January 27th.

Juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to kick off the week with the InterMission Retreat, an overnight trip to Glastonbury Abbey in Hingham, Mass., where they will be encouraged to reflect on their pasts, presents and futures in order to make a connection between their talents, dreams and the world's greatest needs.

The week also offers opportunities for prayer, spiritual meditation and yoga, information sessions on SND organizations, ministries and service opportunities, and for the Class of 2014, the 100 Days celebration, which marks 100 days until their May 10th Commencement.

Please check the Emmanuel events calendar for a full schedule of Founders' Week events.
