Management + Economics

Conceptual. Analytical. Practical. Ethical. Today’s multidisciplinary study of management or accounting prepares the leaders of tomorrow.

Never before have the concepts of responsible management and ethical business practices been so top of mind. But while these concepts may be breaking news in the media, they’ve been the tradition of the Department of Management and Economics. Translating Emmanuel College’s commitment to ethics and social justice into our department, we share values around rigor, relevance, collaboration and integrity. Our students know that organizations—whether for-profit or not-for-profit—can do well and do good.

Emmanuel students graduate confident in the theories and the skills necessary to manage responsibly in a complex society. Our liberal arts foundation teaches students to think critically, be problem solvers and communicate well. In their management courses, students develop further competencies in quantitative analysis, ethics and social responsibility, leadership and teamwork, international issues and technology. And what’s learned in the classroom is put into immediate practice through valuable internships in Boston’s Financial District, at vibrant tech start-ups and for storied non-profits, hospitals and cultural institutions.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to produce socially responsible leaders, thinkers and decision makers who have a strong foundation in theory with an application to the real world and are guided by an engaged and accessible faculty who have a strong balance of theory and practice.
