We live in the information age, but that information is increasingly jeopardized both by the algorithms of our digital resources, and by the innate tendency of our confirmation bias. As a professor of critical thinking and research, I encourage my students to acknowledge their preconceived beliefs, to confront their biases, and to seek out information from opposing viewpoints with a genuine aim to understand. My goal is to usher the strength in students to be attentive listeners and resourceful thinkers who can engage in scholarly discourse with confidence, clarity and tact.
What I Love About Emmanuel:
I love the respect and capacity for differing viewpoints that Emmanuel College students show one another in the classroom. They make every class discussion invigorating and enriching.
