Internships will generally last the duration of one term, or approximately 12-14 weeks. Some majors require students to complete a two-semester internship. On average, interns will work approximately 12-20 hours per week, depending on the requirements for their major. Students will work in collaboration with their faculty supervisor and the Career Center to determine the opportunities that are the best fit for their major requirements and career aspirations.
How do you know if the internship opportunity is a good fit for an Emmanuel student?
The student's career interests and abilities match your organization's needs, as well as the mission and values of the College.
The internship location is not in a private residence and the site is a reasonable commuting distance from the Fenway neighborhood of Boston.
The organization's needs and student's required departmental hours are compatible.
The student is assigned a direct supervisor who meets regularly with the student.
There is orientation and training for the new intern.
The onsite supervisor will be a professional role model and will actively work to develop the student as a young professional.
There are opportunities for the intern to participate in organizational activities beyond administrative work, such as meetings, special events, etc.
